Super Glue

I looks like it sets when it hits the water, but don't worry, It doesn't set entirely. The gel starts to firm up when it hits the water but you'll still need to hold it in place for about 30sec before it sets.The glue will actually spread out when it sets so its important to hold it in place for a while.

The stuff on the left in your picture is cyanoacrylate that's what you want. I don't know what's in the other stuff and can't comment if it's safe. I can say that anything 100% cyanoacrylate is safe for your tank.
 
Thanks ETR. The stuff on the right was dubious, but says "safe for drinking water" (ditched unless someone has used it and is passionate about it). I'll try using a little more of the gel. I think I just wimped out and only put enough that it could all set before I got it in place. I will update once I try again because I am sure other n00bs will be just as thrown by using super glue being safe.
 
I have some of that waterweld sitting in the basement as well and have not used it. i think someone posted about that stuff somewhere on rc, ill have to look for it because i do need to hold some frags in place.
 
Works great when you man up and USE the stuff. Also, it works very well to glue human flesh to rock under salt water.
 
I love the dollar store super glue. I had to use alot of it to cover up the evil red turf algae that was on some of my corals and sails before going into their new red turf free tank.

Very true, you do need to use it generously! At any given moment, I probably have superglue stuck to my fingers. I gave up trying to get it off. It usually comes of by itself after a while :)

I've also heard people putting it on their sps to try and halt the spread of rtn and stn. How'd it work on the red turf?
