well after taking off 2/3rds of chaetho off and feeding heavy on saturday night .. my nitrates are still 0 on sunday night ..

however my phosphates rose to 0.03 ... :hate-you:

i have lots of live rock and in addition i have siporax ( ceramic rings) in my sump ..could this be causing 0 nitrates ?

well i used to have a heavier bioload and thought that siporax would help .. not entirely sure if thats the cause for my 0 nutrients though ..


even weirder is my nuvo 10 which has all my chalices and i super heavy feed that tank and it still shows 0 nitrates and phosphates .. it has a ton of coral for that sized tank though .. and before you say bad test kits i had them double checked by Ryan and he saw the same values ...
 
Well after going down to 1/3rd of my chaetho and feeding excessively im seeing an increase in phos ( undesirable side affect) but nitrates are still at 0

i recieved my NaNO3 today so ill start dosing it next monday if i still dont see nitrates up by that time..


for the record ..

1 gm which is equivalent of 1 ml added to 1 liter of RODI makes a solution that is 6140 ppm ..

and that would raise the Nitrates by 0.8 ppm when dosed 1ml/2 gallons of tank ..

so im gonna roughly dose about 25 ml and see what it puts me to :)

my alk spiked to 11 dkh from 8-9 .. (after i switched the newly mixed solution ..and didnt get a chance to test for a couple days ) i should have tested
hope this doesnt do much damage

Glad you said something. I havnt checked my alk since i adjusted the cal reactor. Guess ill do that when i wake up this afternoon

Corals look great! I have my RR Cactus up very high in really high light. It has taken off really well and I'm getting the bright yellow in the tips. I'd wasn't doing as well when it was lower in my tank.

Give me a month or so. It's not much to look at. I've had it for a few months, but it has had a rough go. It got knocked off of my rockwork and spent a day rolling around my sand. It lost almost all of its color. No since then I moved it tons much higher location and it has recovered quickly. Needs to be a fast grower too.

lol thanks buddy, last three weeks have been super hectic :) kids first bday, change of teams at work, started working out (wanna be cool like [MENTION=1971]jayjerk[/MENTION]) yada yada .oh and then skimmer pump broke after it ingested some chaetho ;)

i did only the needful after kid slept for the last 3 weeks haha ..
