Tinned Reef

i had one of the longest nights last night ...this reefing hobby is annoying ..but well ... .

SAD SAD SAD day ...

so i bought a Diamond goby from one of the LFS near me ..and that ****ing retard of a fish well doing its job really well but stirred up soo much sand i could barely see inside the tank when i got home from work ..

couple hours later i found my beautiful Potters angel dead and in grips of my torch .. had that fish for a couple months only but it was eating healthy and was always out and happy ..not sure what happened.

and then as the dust cleared more i saw one of my Onyx perculas that i had for 4 years also laying on sand gasping for air .. its dead this morning ..

could the sand stir up cause soo much toxin release ? the sand was all disturbed and cleaned in january and i didnt touch it after that.

I have noticed when I was running the 120 and I did a good cleaning and stirred up the bed that all fish really seemed like they where having a hard time breathing but never lost anything tho , sorry for your loss.

I got diamond goby in my 220 gals around 4 months ago . He stirred up sand really good to fighting with red cyano in my tank before .I got too many power heads in tank also to get very strong flow but I don't have any problem with cloud water.just some sand over some montipora. Sorry for loss your fishs.

thats like a coffee break .. i wanted to find out the reason .. did the tests but no ammonia ..elevated nitrates like 20 and phosphates are 0.17 but nothing that major to kill 2 fish ..

i wanted to clean my sump so made water till 11pm mixed it till 1 am .. meanwhile pulled out the whole sump, emptied it and cleaned it and pulled all wire work ..

all in all i was up till 3 am :bored: setting everything back up ..

knocked off a 3 gallon bucket of water on the carpet ... most intresting part is i put the skimmer in full open mode and went to sleep at 3 .. woke up to return pump pulling air at around 5 and thing is skimmer somehow pumped out 3 gallons of water out of sump on to the carpet :(

made some more salt water at 5 till 6 meanwhile called the maintanence ppl to come clean the carpet ( yea at 5 in the morning) put topped off the tank will salt water and went back to bed at 6 ... till 8 have to get up for work then ..

yup i used dr tims when i swapped my rock to dry rock .. but i have about 15 lbs of old rock on the side and in sump till my dry rock took over .. and also have established siporax in the sump .. so no way to tell if dr tims worked or not.. but i think it did

Okay sounds good I'm going to be setting up a new tank here within the next month and I will be doing the same have about 35 pounds of live rock that will be going into tank along with a bunch of dry Rock so I just want to get somebody else's opinion on it that I thought had used it I ordered 8 ounces for roughly a hundred and 60 + gallons of water

damn that sucks to hear. my diamond goby been a model citizen. what kind of sand you have again? if u never cleaned the sand ever, it probably cause a mini cycle and ammonia killed the fish =(

Yup thats what it is .. i don't clean sand ever :( my sand is caribsea special grade something..

I did change about 15 gallons water that night ( about 35%) and it must have taken care of it but the damage is already done..

Looking good! You better hope none of those corals grow. Did everything make the transfer back in?

haha i like them growing into each other and i placed them accordingly :)

yes sir everything made it back in and the fox flame i got yesterday completed the collection unless i come across a kung pao monti :dontknow:

alk has been stable although they are consuming a lot less than before, nitrate and phos has been stable too so i hope they would live hahaha :)
