Wildisme's 80g twin display build

That's a lot of water flow.

I'll only be running around 400gph for each tank through the sump. So it's not too bad.

I'll be using the same krylon black paint. And when you figure the tube will only be 14.5" tall. It should blend in well to the black background and black sand.

Even at the 1st speed i guess was more than enough.
I went from a 900gph to a 4200gph max dc pump.

Im back down to 2nd speed. Could be worse

Whats a white cap? All i get in my sump is sediment pods sponges and white tube worms (filter feeders)
Hahahahahaha hes talking about like waves in the oceans get the white caps when they break because of how tall the waves are. He made a joke about the flow through your sump. ???

The return is a 1in pvc on second setting the surface is disturbed from the flow 4ft away.
Crued he gets rediculous white caps from his living room to the basement drain at 5 or 6in pvc drain.

EyeKid?

You are draining 4200gph through a 1" pipe?

No. He has 2 overflow boxes setup now that run just under 3000gph. He wants to add a 3rd overflow to be able to push 4200gph.

The 1" is his return from pump to tank. And when turned up to 4200 the water is pushing across his tank 4'

Well update on my hex tank. Finally caught the red stripe angel after a month of trying. Gave it to a LFS since no one has shown interest in him here. While doing so I also noticed my Mag7 had just about gave up and was just trickling out of the pipe. So while at the store I picked up a new pump and put in some temporary plumbing to keep this tank running.

This will be the new pump for the 40g reef setup. I also picked up 40lbs of Hawaiian black sand for the new setup.

My hope is to have the stand built this week, along with the plumbing for both tanks. Hoping either this weekend or next weekend to make the switch to the new tank. Then get the second tank running for the seahorses about a month or so after that. Just incase I run into any mini cycle issues.

That being said. I'll have around 60-80lbs of live sand to get rid of.

Unfortunately the angel took a toll on the tank over the past month. One bta is almost completely dead, the second and third are damaged but will recover quickly I think. He killed off my torch coral, about 6-7 SPS frags I had, and has damaged my hammer head and frogspawn. Both of these I think will be okay as they are still full color and alive, just haven't opened a lot since he started picking at them non stop.

What makes the dead nem dead to you? One of my angels took a rainbow nem and took all the tentacles off with its mouth. Left just the foot and mouth. Guess what? 5 to 6 months later the tentacles are back to about 3in lenght.
Took 4months of no tentacle growth. Then all of a sudden one month the growth happened with out spot feeding or nurture. It hust happened.

So if the foots good. And has a mouth dont toss it.

I won't toss him. Honestly at this point I don't know where it is. The tentacles were down to around 1/4 to 1/8". Previously around 3-4". He got super tiny and stayed closed and bubbled for his last few days in his normal spot. Then he went to the back of the rock. And now I don't know where it went.

He most likely isn't dead. But when you go from a 4" wide plate with 3-4" tentacles bright red and it goes to the size of a quarter and turns a dark green/purple. It's a bit saddening.

I hope I can find it when I switch my tanks and can nurse it back. The other one sunk so far into the hole it's based in yesterday I thought it was gone too. But I notice now that the Angel is gone. It was our pretty decent last night and was letting the clown continue to host.

Well I rarely do. But I miss counted how many boards I needed and ended up one board short. Got the rest cut and ready to build.

I think that Angel is very lucky that he made it to a LFS and not chopped up and fed to the btas to nurse them back to health.

Basic layout. Still gotta add all my bracing. It will not get a finish on it until it's all setup and running. Give me easy access to everything just In case.

Looks fun. Don't you need to marry some more 2x4 to the vertical pieces so the weight of the tank isn't held by the screws?

I envy people doing tank builds. There is so much I would change because I've seen so many builds and ideas since I set up my tank. Have fun.

That is correct. There will be 2 more uprights in the center. Then all the uprights will be boxed in to give support horizontally and stop any chance of sway or twist. Then all uprights will have pieces married to them to support all the weight vertically.

Just reached a point of "I need to sit the hell down" tonight. I'll probably finish this up and get the plumbing cut, glued, and painted on mon or tue. Rest of this week is pretty booked after work.

Plan is to have this and plumbing done. So tank can be switched over next weekend. Then seahorse tank will be up a month or so after that
