Another thing that might be happening incase of no water changes and pale sps is

you have too much pile up of nutrients
then algae starts growing crazy ..
or Chaetho starts growing crazy cause there are too much nutrients
and eventually Algae and chaetho use up all the available nutrients and continue to take what ever comes in ..
SPS and other corals wont have any nutrients at all to thrive and start starving and get pale ..

this is what happened when i left my tank for about a month and half with no water changes .. Many would thing having 0 nutrients is good but unless you are keeping up with aminos or some kinda food even sps needs nutrients and would starve with out any .. we always over look algae, just pull it get rid of it ..but its a major consumer of nutrients in a tank ..

Just curious, why are you insisting on no water changes? You're not liking the results you're getting, so why not change up your methods and see what happens? A water change or two would replace/replenish those trace elements. I know a few people swear by no water changes, but they are a very small minority and most reefers swear by water changes. You got an RODI system, no? Are you still having GHA issues?
I have undetectable nitrates and phos with elos test kits. Other than trace elements there's no real reason to change the water. I'm trying to get slightly more nutrients in the water so waterchanges would counteract that

I hear you, but if you don't like the fish you're catching (pun intended) change the bait. I run low nutrients (usually 0/0), and I definitely notice a positive response from corals after a water change. Maybe try water change plus aminos?

Wifes been talking about moving the basement around so I may be moving my tank to a different area of the basement (where I actually want it). If this happens I may even be building a new stand. If any of this happens then there will be a large water change

So the lights aren't perfect but they are growing on me a little. So other than changing the bulbs I changed my gfo and carbon. Also hooked a house fan up to my apex to act as my ghetto chiller.

Alk is dropping at a faster rate which is exciting. I may actually be able to kick on the cal reactor.

You can see my tower fan on the left side keeping the halides cool.

Some nice signs of color. How long are you running your lights each day? It's interesting because you have some browned out corals and some pale corals, which usually mean two different things.

Haha I know that's why I've been do lost. I run my lights 12 hours a day. I changed my bulbs last week so maybe that has something to do with the browned acros perking up and the added nitrates may be helping also

That's great news, it's good to see you posting some good news and picturing a smile on your face
