I may be shutting down my 93. Depending on the price my aunt wants for her 70 cuda I may have to sell the 93 to get it. I should find out soon so I'll just have to wait and see

Well Sawdonkey requested an update so here it is. Got a new toy but still have to order the controller for it

I've been dealing with some crazy ph issues so I am ordering some co2 absorbant and building a co2 scrubber.

Since I've been keeping my windows open to keep ph up I've noticed quite a bit of growth, but colors still aren't where I want them. Until I get more fish or start dosing nitrates colors will stay pale

You and I have opposite problems. You have great PE but poor coloration. I have poor PE but good colors. The PE on that scroll is unbelievable. I've never even seen a polyp on my scroll.

Why do you think you're having Ph issues? I don't even think most people test for Ph. Alkalinity is the buffer that typically keeps it in check. Are you running the Cal reactor that's pumping in low Ph? I just assume that if my alk is good, ph is good too. I think of ph as a number not worth chasing.

What makes you think you need nitrates? Why do you think they're too low. Mine are pretty close to zero at all times. Have you tried dosing AcroPower or other aminos? It's strange, because some of your corals are light colored and some seem browned out.

Please tell me you've fired up your RODI unit?

Weird I replied to this earlier. Not sure what happened. I'll type it all up again right now

Yeah my tank has always had great polyp extension.

I monitor ph with my apex and I recalibrated the probes and the numbers dropped down to like 7.7 which isn't terrible but not the 7.9 my tank is normally at. Then I realized my tank was constantly dropping lower and lower each day. It all started around the time I put the co2 tank in my stand. Maybe it was leaking? I would have to air out my house everyday or it would drop below 7.5. Now it's better and more stable, but I'm going to add a co2 scrubber just to make sure. Yes I do have a calcium reactor but the co2 is shut off until my coral start using up alk and cal at a consistent rate. Your right ph is a number not worth chasing unless it's dropping too low. Once it hits 7.5 it starts dissolving coral skeleton. And obviously that's a problem. I figured it out when my calcium was over 500 and I wasn't dosing it and not doing waterchanges. That's when I recalibrated my probes. Things have been steady all week and already had great growth.

As for nitrates. I have a total water volume of about 160 gallons and only 3 fish. So clearly my bio load is extremely small. So really there's not much nitrates being put into my tank at all.

For aminos I dose aquavitro fuel. I think that's why my coral colored up some. But now I'm out so I'll have to get more. But I think adding a few fish will also help with color.

The par on the ones that are light colored is between 300-450. The brown ones well they are all below 250. That's why I'm adding the hydra 26 to supplement the tank with blue but also throw some more par to those brown coral.

I also know there's phosphates since I'm growing bubble algae and a small amount of gha, but it takes a long time for the gha to grow.

Still a no go on the rodi. I know I'm slacking but with a wife that only allows a $70 a month budget it's hard to get all of my projects done in a timely fashion.

Lol thanks to madjoe I've got urchin eggs flying around my tank. Hopefully feeding my coral. This guy is awesome though
The first picture shows the white ring on the top (sperm)

That's pretty nuts. Save the eggs and raise some urchins lol

If any survive that'd be cool but I think alot of them may be coral food. Lol I also had to dump the skimmer this morning even though I did that yesterday so I'm sure alot made it to the sink

madjoe the urchin found its first decoration. Lol war coral from trackfast
