220rr build

Everything was fine till I added the white cheek tang.
I've also spoken to other people that are in the saltwater hobby and if they're on CR and they say, "No, they are way too many MR. Know it all's on there and everyone has a different answer to why things are happening and it reminds them of calling into ComCast, Where no one gives a ..."

I'm also waiting for everything to relax in the tank for several months, that was my plan from the get go when the ich first rose up, SkullV.

One thing that would be nice, which could be too hard for people on here to do. If you see someone struggling with something you've done before is offer a hand in getting the job done instead of whining oh your doing that all wrong. Use your intelligence for the better outcome. Shoot if someone asked me about how to skateboard or something else that I know about. Instead of telling them, I'd take the next step amd show them. Or if I didn't I would send them to the next best person that does.

You are going through the same newbie mistakes we made. I guess just learn from it and move on. People did tell you to stop adding more fish, which is the right advice to give. then you can do your research. There are plenty of good info out there about ich, especially in national forums.

I was simply stating that I think your setup isn't proper to house the live stock your placing in it... I said nothing about ich. Most fish do carry it and it only appears from stress or poor conditions which in turn lead to stress... Why throw away $ and kill animals is all... Sure I've killed my fair share over years of learning but they weren't tangs regardless of what your after sort out your plumbing and you'll have no issues keeping anything I'm sure... If you also look around you'll see I'm not a MR know it all either I've bred discus for several years and started reefing a year ago be sauce I got bored with discus and some select cichlids. I am here for knowledge as well not to preach but I always check out whaT is necessary to keep species of fish I want before I buy them and I have drilled peoples glass and have given pay it forward frags ect... I'm not trying to be a dick just telling you how I see it.

Well all in all, think we've all had a rough day, started off this morning leaving work, paying my car loan in dekalb/syacmore, then driving back home to Mundelein, grabbed a speeding ticket. So lets all meet up and have a beer or something if your old enough and chat this out. Instead of get angry over this, lets come to a resolution. Sorry Dudes!

I'm outta town for a week starting tomorrow at noon but if your in need of assistance don't be afraid to ask I'm pretty skilled and dont have a problem helping a guy out. If you have the right supplies plumbing can be handled easily and I have tons if your in need. If your willing to do it right I'm always down to devote my time. Good luck this week and lmk if I can be of any assistance I know it's hard to look at a tank without fish ect trust me. When I started I let my 93 go about two months after I put water in it... It sucked but in a years time it was breathtaking everyone who came over was amazed and I learned it all on here. I did t even know what a tang was when I started besides a yellow fish at the store lol there are several ways to skin a cat but many overdo it keep things simple and there are less processes to sort through to find a problem is what I've found. When I bred discus 50ppl gave me 50 methods what works for you works and you will know what works by the quality of your livestock. I've got several corals as well I would be willing to share as I buy more exotic hard to care for species you just need to get your plumbing sorted and let things stabilize for a month and then start adding some corals ect and based upon what you've red about ich ect you will be able to determine if you'd like to let your tank go fallow or not... Personally I don't really QT fish because I don't want the extra tanks or work but I make sure it's been at the store for weeks and doesn't look tattered thin or shy ect... I also feed some medicated foods regularly along with garlic supplementation.. Sure is there probably ich present somewhere deep in my system yes... But I've never had an outbreak thus far or any disease issues for that matter and every coral I get I dip and use a magnifying glass to observe while in acclimation or in the bag unless it's from the few personal friends who have given me assistance ect... Lots of ppl have things you don't want so make sure you prepare accordingly. In a perfect world I would have two QT systems one for coral and one for fish but my current living situation doesn't allow for that. Once I'm in my own home my behind the wall fish room will have a 40 breeder for each purpose until then I'll break the rules cautiously.. Good luck and happy fish keeping man

Back when I had the 25 to 55 setup and a 20L on seperate systems, then to the 55, 40 and 40. I didn't have ich issues luckily. Hit me up when you get back. Would be fun to have some people come over and go over things with me. When your halfway awake and looking at plumbing stuff that you need sometimes it doesn't work out the way you thought it would. I've made many trips between home depot and menards over the last couple of months.

Other thing I noticed was where I got my white cheek, not trying to say it was there fault, but the other fish bought from them died off rather quickly too.

Tomorrow morning I'll finish plumbing the return pump in the basement and add the rest of the mixed water to the system and turn on the pump. I still need to pick up a protein skimmer and figure a way to setup a filter sock on the 100g stock tank and I'd looking to get a couple reactors, one for carbon and another for gmo.

Well got everything plumbed yesterday morning, filled the tank the rest of the way up, overflow was leaking at a union, rewrapped the union threads with the white tape. No leaks there now. Went into the basement and the bulkhead where the out fitting is threaded in was leaking. Couldn't do anything about it yesterday, had to go to bed for work this evening. As soon as I get home today, going to mess with it and try retaping it. If it stops the leak, I'll fill the sump up and turn on the return pump and see what happens. Also setup the filter sock on the overflow outlet in the sump.

Turned on the return pump yesterday, was leaking at the return out, replaced the threaded male fitting. Going to try running it again today. Yesterday it was sucking air and water level would go up and down in the return side of sump. Was thinking about adding more water and then turning off the return to see if it would overflow and where the top fill could be before it would overflow and mark it.

Still having leak issues with the fitting that screws into the return pump out and I think one of the 90 degree's is leaking a little drop here and there. Any idea's of what I could do with the fitting that drips a tiny amount here and there? I've used the fitting tape that you wrap around the threads...

No more issues with ich as of now. Going to wait till end of Sept before I replace anything. Down to the blue hippo and 2 pajama cardinals. Live and Learn.

Starting to look good bud did you fix the leaks yet? Are they just dripping back into the sump? Also I would do as you said kill the return and find out the max water level so that if power goes out your not flooding.

Well nothing happened today, ended up sleeping. Have to run to the hardware shop to get the threaded 1.5" fittings for the Hayward ball valve union. Came with slip and threaded fittings.

Noticed the other day that my Duncanops has 3-5 small new heads coming off of it! Super RAD!! Also my acans are growing too!
