Brandon and Cecily's 93g Cube

I am thinking about doing that to make teeth. I am not sure what that bulkhead is for. Came with the sump from original owner. The only thing I can think of is either ato but it seems very large for that or possibly for water changes im not sure. So Ben if I were to drill with 1/4" bit every inch 1" from the top would the water flow through the holes as opposed to over the top??

I actually meant the saw, not the drill, lol. When I did mine I just pushed it into table saw just a quarter inch ever inch or so.

The 40b was going to be my display tank(so i drilled it for a drain) halfway into the build i got the chance to get the 93 gallon. So for the cube it really has no purpose i just didt want to buy another 40b:)

Lol well that makes sense. Doesnt affect it as a sump so yeah.

Glad to see you've started up again. Subscribed.
I can relate...I just took down my 75 because of dino's or whatever all over my tank like you had, and am starting over. Good luck.

Thank you. Yes Cecily and I need to be more patient take things slow and we will be more successful.

So I contacted the seller and of course he denies he shipped a broken skimmer he didnt insure shipping and he now is refusing to refund my money. Good thing i didnt paypal as a gift. Ive already submitted a claim with paypal. Also I have called my bank to dispute the charges on my debit card. So we shall see what happens.

If this ends up not in my favor does anyone know how to repair plastic/acrylic?

I already sized my sump baffles for this skimmer so its either this broken one or ill have to find another one or one with similar operating water depth.

Bummer. It is difficult to tell from the photos but it looks like just flat acrylic piece was broken. If so, you could sketch out the dimensions of the broken part, or snap a few photos, or even mail it to me I can create you a new part drawing in CAD. You would just need to pay for laser cutting and new acrylic which is relatively inexpensive. Shoot me a PM if you need some help.

Right now im waiting to see what paypal says about the claim I filed I also called my credit card company and am disputing the charge with them as a back up so hopefully I get my money back and ill just buy something else if all else fails I may get some kwik weld or weld on 16 and repair the broken parts. The broken parts are the pump mount plate and tabs and the "wings" that connect the skimmer body to the baseplate via the thumb screws.

Weld-on #16 will fix up most of those pieces. If you need to borrow some, let me know, I have a couple tubes of it, and you shouldn't need much. However, for a good bond, pieces should be clamped together after being attached, so you should see if you can figure out a way to clamp some of the larger pieces.

Thank you Jimmy. After I hear from paypal and my bank then ill know whether im getting my money back or need to repair this skimmer. Ill let you know for sure.

Finally worked things out with the seller. Im returning the skimmer to him for a full refund.

Back to square one on the protein skimmer.

I should have about 100g or so of actual water volume.

93gDT-rock volume+ about 22to25g in the sump= 100g apprx

The water level in my skimmer section is 8.5" and is 11x17.

Here are the models im looking at:

SWC 160 Cone
SWC 180 Cone
Sea Side Aquatics CS2
SCA-302

Thoughts and opinions are appreciated. Also if theres a different model im not thinking of feel free to throw it out there for me.

Just throwing out another skimmer. I'm not knocking the ones you've chosen, I don't know anything about them, but you asked. :a12: I had great luck with the SRO 1000INT on my 75G tank, total volume was 100 gallons. I know that they are rated pretty accurately, so that size should do it, and price is $319 at Premium Aquatics. This was the third skimmer I have had, and IMO was the easiest to dial in, and was really quiet. They run in very low level, 5 1/2" or so, so you would need to put it on a 3" stand. The next size up is what I'm getting for my new build. The SRO2000, it is also reasonably priced at $409 if you felt the need to move up a size.

Glad to hear that the seller is giving you a full refund.
