Chgoblknazn's Tank Build Thread

Just put my order in for the Maxspect Mazarra LED kit. I purchased the 2 module kit and I plan to put in the 100 optics. If that's not enough for my 36" tank, I can always addon another module. They should ship in 1-2 weeks.

No need for fish in a cycle, but to be honest a pair of clowns can get dropped into an uncycled tank on day 1 and be no worse for the wear. Admittedly that is how I cycled my first tank.

That Dr. Tim's stuff actually has pretty favorable reviews though.

I was a little nervous and skeptical when I dropped the container into my tank water. After watching Mr. Saltwater tank's video on the stuff where Dr. Tim explains the science behind it, it clicked and made perfect sense.

After day one the numbers began to drop and then on the second day, ammonia and nitrates had hit zero. I had no fish and shot a message to Dr. Tim and he responded personally. He recommended I get a fish or two in the tank soon because the bacteria need the food to keep growing and get established in the tank. They are happily swimming around and getting used to their new home. The water is scent free and smells of the ocean. I'll test the parameters again this weekend.

I've been blowing hundreds of dollars on livestock...so here is a pic taken today. I've made a few purchases from MCF, Golden Aquarium, Aquatica, Reefwise and 3 local reefers.

Now it's time to sit back and relax.

Tonight I picked up my new sump that was custom made by Anthony of Nano Sea Creations. He's awesome and his work is even better. It was a pleasure meeting him.....and he's adorable.

Anywho, here are some pics of the new sump that is a bit bigger than my previous custom sump. I had the original one made before I decided to get a bigger tank. By the time I decided to go a foot longer, the sump was already in production and I had to take it. It will now be available in our classifieds section if anyone is interested.
