So crazy story. I haven't seen my rbta since i sold the split on 1-23-13 and i just got home and it on one of my rocks. How the hell did it hide for 2 weeks!.

On a side note, Dre checked my water

Nitrate-0
Phosphates- 0
Ph 8.2
Calc 390


Think its time to start kalk dosing

Could my phosphates and nitrates being zero be causing me to have issues keeping zoas?

Alk causing it?

Sps and lps are happy but I'm having i issues with zoas. No pest, I've looked for everything.
 
what were u saying i was distracted a litle bit there lol . ok back to u question i also have isues with some zoas with clean water its hard to find the balance between sps and zoas water quality
 
Lol, I've up'd my feeding and still get perfectly clean water lol. Guess I'll wait maybe it'll balance out. Or i need more fish :spy:

Hey Joe, I was admiring your tank and had a few thoughts about your questions a few posts back. The alk dre tested is kinda low. Many sps keepers like 8-10 I believe. More growth bumping to 10-12 but burning and other issues can come about this high. I like 9. Reef crystals test out around 11. Really depends if your using salt from bottom of the bucket. My tank is young and I'm looking for faster growing environment thats high in cal and alk. Zs and Ps are tricky. Dip if your at all worried and keep any amount of algae or brown dust from building. I really do see a difference using fuel by seachem and believe it or not, no it couldn't be, its so hard to believe Vitamin C. Been using it.... I know at one point your were fighting HA. How's it going? Add more fish dude. Tailspot Blenny! Would go in and out of your rocks. peaceful herbivore.

I'm working on the alk and calc. I just checked again after switching to salinty. I've only done 20g of wc in the past 2 weeks so i'm was not expecting much of a change

Mag 1320
Alk 6.6

Going to start dosing kalk in my ato but i wanted to get a baseline

Few weeks back i brought my water to dre to get tested

Phos 0.00
Trates 0.0


As far as the hair algae, between more water changes. weekly GFO changing and getting a Kole it was all gone pretty quick. It never got that bad but it was enough to annoy me. Tank is clean and clear of all algae now so i'm happy


My current stock list is

Kole
Lyretail
Chromis
2 clowns
Yellow watchman
Ornate Male leopard
Chalk bass

I'll update with Kalk results after a a few days.
 
forgot i should mention. I'm running 2 mp-10s in my tank and i'm pretty happy with them. I'm sure an mp40 would be better but until the mp10's flow quite a bit.

I get a decent wave out of it too even with all my rockwork and my big center overflow.
