Jrpark22000 Nem tank

The tank arrived on friday and I've got a good start on it. Holes are drilled, locline is in, glass-holes overflow is modified and installed, and marble floor is cut. The tank will be attached to my DT via the common sump. The nem tank will sit on a shelf on the right end of the DT stand.

It's a Mr Aqua 17.1 gal 60cmx30cmx36cm(aprox 23"lx12"wx14"t) low iron tank from marinedepot. If you are use to glass-holes 700gph boxes, they only have teeth on the front. With a few minutes on the milling machine I cut the side and back teeth. Then added a 3/8" acrylic peice to the back as a spacer. Lastly, cut all the teeth about 3/8" shorter. The mods double the teeth allowing for a lower water level allowing it to be mounted higer in the tank. The marble tiles are to protect the BB glass bottom, simialr to my DT.

I still need to paint the background black (just the side with the returns,) modify the sump plumbing, build the return plumbing, build the shelf and supports, tear down the Pico, soak the marble in ro/di, build rockwork, mount the par38 while I wait to find a deal on a AI sol and proab a few other things I'm forgetting.

LOL, maybe a small problem but I can stop any time I want...

No rare clowns at this point, the black Occ female will be rehomed in here as I find here a new mate.

Oh....well fwiw, if you're going to keep BTAs you may want to reconsider your rock...BTAs like to mount there foot deep inside of rock holes. They like to be able to retract into holes for security and do not typically like sharp rough surfaces like the dead staghorn coral you have...
I keep BTAs exclusively myself and all my nems are high and mounted on smooth round rocks with holes and crevices.....

Thanks Craig. I knew about them needing flats and was already planning on taking off the coral polyps on the top of the large peice on the left. It's also why I have incorporated some pukani. I hadn't read they also prefer to have their foot in a hole. Time to give it some more thought and reading.

Whoa! I get busy with work and leave you guys alone for a little and you're setting up another tank!!!

Looks awesome so far Josh!!

+1 on the nem in a hole theory. I have 5 BTA's and all are in a hole/crevice. Sweet looking tank.

Thanks Matt, I'm working on the rescape. I'm suprised no matter how much reading I do, it just doesn't come up yet every picture I see of a happy looking BTA has their foot in a hole.

Welcome DD
I never sit still, always have a couple irons in the fire.
