mlreef 450 gallon mixed reef build

NICE use of Tonga Branch! That's not easy to do!

I can't wait to see life in it! You know, besides the scape-master... :D

that aquascape.....................

Thanks, the scape took a while but I'm very happy with it.

sweet looking tank! Can't wait to see life in there!

Give me a couple days, I'll have some life in there for sure.

Your right the spread with the Par bulbs looks great!

Totally even coverage and decent par values at the sand bed as well.

Thanks, your right, it's not easy but if you take your time anything is possible with the scape-master!

what par bulbs did you use??

I used 15 PAR 38's from Prestige LED's. these are the same ones I told you to get. They are fully dimmable. I went overkill on mine, you would only need 5-6 MAX.

and how many?

15 Par 38's

.....holy crap thats great! :a02:

Thanks!

Great aqua scape. Now how did u get out without messing it up lol.

I wasn't the one in there... My friend Brett was in there, he is the aqua-scape grand master!

I totally remember you now! How have you been? How is your tank coming along?
Im doing good, well since then i changed tanks like 4 times, i just broke my 60g cube, im caught up with school so im gonna take a break, I will be back though just not enough time right now to take care of it. are you selling any more buckets of sand? (need an excuse to come look at this monster tank lol :)

I am actually all out of any live sand. I have a case or 2 left of the carribsea sand that is sold as live sand. It's either 40 or 80 lbs.

You only gonna have the Tonga and thats it or you putting other rock in too? Tank looks amazing!

Thanks Jeff, I'm only using Tonga branch rock in the display. I will running 50 L Kaldnes in the sump in my fluidized bed reactor. I will also be running Pukani rock in the refugium.

There are finally some clowns in the system. They have been in there since Monday morning. I'll take some pictures of the little guys tomorrow night! They look like a group of BB's in a box car.

I have been working on reducing the hum and the added heat of the reeflo pump. So this is what I came up with.

I'm using 2 1/2" acoustical foam.

3 120mm fans built into a controller. They come on at 78 degrees and turn off at 75 degrees. They are silent. The three combined move about 160 cmf.

If you get any noise from your fans (although you say they are silent) you can get some neoprene washers from the hardware store and place them in between the mounting holes. It will help if needed at a later date. You can also get some dyna mat for under the mounting of your pump too, another option if needed.

Which fans/ set up did you go with?

The fans are super silent, I ended up going with fans from the coolerguys.com on a thermostat. Most of the noise that I am hearing right now is from the reeflo hammerhead pump. Currently I have 3/8" dynamat under the pump. I might have to go to a full 1/2".
