mlreef 450 gallon mixed reef build

I have been working on reducing the hum and the added heat of the reeflo pump. So this is what I came up with.

I'm using 2 1/2" acoustical foam.

3 120mm fans built into a controller. They come on at 78 degrees and turn off at 75 degrees. They are silent. The three combined move about 160 cmf.

Looking good mike.

Thanks Jorge!

All I can say is that there is a definitely a noticeable difference in sound transfer coming from the closed loop pump. Also the fans have solved the pump heat issue. I will be fine tuning the foam this upcoming weekend and adding some more fish to the display tank.

I'm sorry that I have not undated in a while. The first shot is me playing with the par meter that I borrowed. I was really impressed with the par at the sand bed from the par38 bulbs from Prestige Led. My par readings at the sand bed ranged from 150 to 168. So I can officially keep a clam.

The other pictures are just some of the fish that I have added over the last 3-4 weeks.

Enjoy! I'm pretty sure I need to buy a better camera...

I dunno about a clam with those angels....

Other than that, LOVE THE UNICORN!!! Those look incredible as they mature...

None of the angels that I have, have ever picked at any coral (sps or softies) I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm pretty sure that the unicorns are both females... I'm not sure if they will get the huge horn like the males would. We'll see.

I love it!!!

Thanks Walt!

Jorge, I will take some whole tank shots soon, I promise.

Wow Mike! That looks great! Did you end up getting that Uni from Sea Schor? I need to come over and see for myself! Maybe take my camera :p

Wow!! Incredible!!! Fantastic job on this build. I love the scape, the branches are sweet! You also put one of my favorite fish in there; the unicorn tang! Again great job on this build. Very colossal undertaking and the fruits of your labor have paid off magnificently!

Geno, I have not heard back from him at all. I will try calling him again tomorrow. He's really attached to it and I'm pretty sure that he wants to keep it, that was my understanding the last time that I spoke to him

Thanks Dominick for the kind words! The scape took a while but when it's all full of coral it will totally look awesome.

I'm wondering the same. :) All of the fish look great Mike!

Thanks Ben, at first I thought that there would be more fighting for territory but everyone is super chill.

great thread... i cant wait to see it full of corals, also love the fish you've selected.

Thanks Marius!

Mike, looks great. What a selection of fish. What are your plans as far as keeping corals?

Thanks Mark! I will be starting with softies down low and slowly work my way up to the top. I also plan on keeping a couple clams along the front side.

Jorge, these shots are for you since you were requesting some full tank shots.

Enjoy!
