mlreef 450 gallon mixed reef build

Sweet! I am in love with your tank!

Thanks Dan!

These pics are gorgeous, but to see it in person will bring a tear to your eye.

I appreciate that Jay! I'm glad that you were able to see it in person.

I like the look, but where do the fish have places to hide and sleep?

The fish sleep and hide within the Tonga branch. As coral is added and things progress there will be more hiding places.

Kaldness or not, with all of those tangs, algae isn't going to grow.

The tangs keep the rock pretty clean especially my kole, floweri and chevron.

Awesome looking tank, but why the pre-invert hypo?

The hyposalinity is a precaution that I'm taking with all the fish that I have. I plan on adding maybe 4-5 more over the course of the next couple weeks. I just don't want to have a sick fish and then try to catch it with coral and rock everywhere. I figure its better to be safe than sorry.

Tank looks amazing Mike. I love your 3 Hippo Tangs in one tank. How many different Tangs do you have there? It should be called Tang Paradise not mlreef reef. LOL.

Awesome!!!

Thank Jorge!

Makes sense Mike, thanks! That's an AWESOME way to do it!

Appreciate it Ben!

Mark, I have quite a few different tangs in there. I will make a list when I get home tonight and post it. I have 2 hippos and 1 yellow belly hippo. I like the idea of Tang Paradise! I go through a very large sheet of nori daily.

Tang Town

Ben, Tang Town sounds late 70's to me like Funky Town...

Can u imagine the funds needed to fill this tank with coral. . Lol

Sorry for the really slow response...

Yes I can... I'll just have to take it slowly.

Anyway 3 more weeks of Hypo left and then I will start adding corals.

Here are some updated pictures. I have also included a video as well. I will have some coral coming in the next couple of weeks and it should look amazing!

Enjoy!

Wow. Just incredible.

Thanks Ben! The OM is simply awesome... How is yours doing?

Amazing job. That is so beautiful!

Thanks Amanda! I still have a long way to go.

Looks great man

Thanks Keith! Just wait until I start adding all the inverts...

Wow I really need to stop by after my next doctors appointment at Hinsdale orthopedics on 59.

Dave, let me know when your next appointment is and I'll try to accommodate.

It's not running quite yet. Tank is still waiting to be put up after we pay off some debts. However, when I did the plumbing and had it running, it was awesome. I love it.
