looks good Dom man do.I need a better camera

Thanks Dave, if you get a new one let me know, I don't mind teaching the basics. DSLR's are pretty overwhelming when you first get them with all the buttons and settings! Once you learn the basics, it's fairly easy to learn the rest.

Nice update & photos. I like your orange bam bam zoanthids!

Thanks! My pics aren't quite up to yours though! I'm going to try shooting the next set under 14K and see if that makes it any easier on my cameras sensor. My LED's are blowing out highlights.

It is definitely hard taking pictures of the tank under LEDs. That's why I bought the top down port hole for my SLR otherwise the pictures I took through the glass always come out distorted with colors that I don't even see in person lol.

Lol! Right! I think I'm going to buy that avast porthole. I always like more photography gadgets lol!

Quick update:

The tank itself is doing pretty good. I'm seeing some good growth from everything. I've decided to add some new equipment. The only thing that's on the tank currently is the apex with EB8. The rest below will hopefully be added this weekend. I nearly have everything but my doser, which just cleared customs, so by the end of the week I should receive it.

New add on equipment is as follows:

Sump/fuge that was built for me by Will! It's pretty awesome and Will has a lot of talent building these things out of acrylic!

Eheim compact+ 3000 for my return

Ebay 65 gallon skimmer

Overflow from lifereef. This guy has been in business for a long time! I received the overflow and even though I owned one back in the late 90's, I was simply amazed at the craftsmanship that went into building it. I will post pictures hopefully later this week to show how nice it is. Also got a spare u-tube and the lifereef silencer. Which is extremely well built.

ATO from avast marine. I bought the model that you plug right into the apex. It's pretty slick. Tested it by plugging the aqualifter into the EB8 outlet, set the programming up in the apex, and sticking the tube sensor in a cup of water. As soon as I lifted the tube slowly out of the cup, it instantly turned the pump on and as soon as I slowly lowered it, it turned the pump off. I'm going to add a bit more programming to it like limiting the amount of time it can run, as well as if it drops to a certain PH to kick the outlet off.

I picked up a lab grade ph probe and a couple packets of solution to calibrate with.

I ordered a marine color 3 part dosing system. Did a bunch of research on it and it seems to be good, and their customer service is from what I've read, excellent. Should be coming shortly.

I also ordered a brs GFO reactor. This is the only component I don't see myself hooking up right away because I have no way of tying it into the return line; brs was out of the push connect fitting for the unit and I don't want to use an mj1200.

Ordered a 5 stage RODI system from brs, received it and hooked it up, then found that the pressure is way too low in my apartment, so I then ordered the booster pump. Just got it today and I don't think I'll be able to test it out yet.

Purchased a dosing line holder from off of ebay. It's actually really much nicer than I expected. I'll get some photos up of it as well.

Finally, got the brs 2 part starter kit. I will get those going once I am ready to set the doser up.

Now I know some of you may be wondering why I've spent so much money on a 27 gallon, heck, I was wondering myself lol! The reason is that I'm going to do an upgrade in the fall to a larger tank to replace my 46 gallon planted and figured I would learn to tweak all of the equipment I'll be using on that.

That's all for now, I may start a thread on reviewing the lifereef overflow because I really think it's pretty awesome for those who are unable to drill their tank because it's set up already, or just don't want to. I fall in the former category as I'm very impatient and also didn't think I would be sumping this tank.

I'll try and get some pics up within the next day or two of some of the equipment.

Quick update on the upgraded equipment status:

So far I have the sump/fuge up and running with the lifereef overflow.

I also have the ebay skimmer working. Took a bit to get it to work right. I had to build a stand out of eggcrate in order to raise it enough to work properly. It's now skimming a nice diarrhea color skimmate lol!

Last night I built a small shelf for my dosing unit and ATO. Dosing unit will probably be hooked up a little later this week when I have time, but the ATO is up and running. One note: when using an aqua lifter pump, you really have to set the outflow tubing higher than you reservoir because it will continue to siphon into the sump. I ended up setting it above my overflow box so it's working great now.

Tonight I'll be teeing off of my return line for the GFO reactor, as well as getting my ph probe calibrated and set up.

Just upgraded my RODI with the 75gpd water saver upgrade. Wow, what a difference in water output!

Also ended up getting my ph probe calibrated and working with the apex. I'll finish hooking up most of the rest of the equipment by the end of this weekend. I was going to hook up my doser, but I'm going out of town this coming Mon-Wed so I figured that would probably not be a good idea!

I believe all that's left is to tee off the return to power my reactor and get the doser set up.

If anyone is looking for a dosing line holder, there is some dude on ebay that's selling one that holds 4 lines. Don't buy it, it's garbage. The screws that hold the line in don't screw in enough to hold the tubing. Waste of money. I believe this person is selling it for around $10 so just a heads up.

I will post detailed pics of everything once it is completely set up.

Took a few shots with my iPhone. I apologize in advance for the lack of sharpness. I was too lazy to bust out the DSLR lol!

Shot of my "leng sy" like frag that's grown pretty well:

Random shot of some sps and other corals:

Some znps:

A few more sps:

A few more znps and clams:

SPS shot again:

A shot of my clams along with sps, lps, and znps

That's all for now. Many of the sps colonies you see in the pics will be transferred to my new build which should be getting started within the next few weeks.

Thanks bro! It's growing in pretty good now. It'll be depressing when I move the corals to the new tank. Well some of them anyways.

Lol u'll be good man u'll have more room to buy more corals lol.. And evict that melanarus the terrible lol
