My "Tanked" Tank

She passed away during the night. The wound seems bigger so I guess it was infected. Makes me think twice about getting expensive fish since it is always the expensive ones that die first while the cheap crap stays around forever.

I'm sorry for your loss Noreen. I hope you'll take this as an opportunity to get everything dialed in perfectly before you add anything else. It might have been an injury, but it also sounded like it could have been something else if you say there was a white fuzz. This might be a good chance for you to get all of your little problems fixed before you have to start chasing symptoms in your other livestock. That tank is definitely a monster, but the loss of the fish might give you a chance to further tame it. Just my humble opinion.

+1

I suggest holding off on buying any livestock until you get the issues with the parameters and build handled.

It wasn't the water that did the fish in, it was the cut in the flesh. However, I still need things around the house that I need to spend the $$ on.

Got the last par 38 I need from Coral Compulsion so the tank should be finished soon.

Tank was almost finished when I decided to go to Hawaii for a week on a raffle prize that I won. Nice aquariums out there but of course, I couldn't trust anyone to watch my tank. Fish were horribly over fed, two leaks in the main tank, one in the sump and the pump had broken down. Lost several fish and all corals shut down. Could have been as long as 5 days and sitter didn't say a thing. If I didn't have two wave makers going I would have lost everything. Cut the pvc pipe to attach a small pump to do something while I fixed main pump. Been home for a week and have main pump fixed and reattached but it takes several days to build up 200-250 gallons of water. Everything should be running and full by tonight.

No good. Struggling to get pump working again, many water changes, nitrates and phosphates high even after water changes. Lost all coral besides a couple palys that are hanging in. Not sure if sun coral is dying or hybernating. Lost all fish but pufferbitch, a spotted grouper I bought a month ago, long nose Hawkfish and what I thought was a rabbitfish that would heat the hair algae.

Friends completely over fed so there is wild festation (?) of aptasia.

Still haven't figured out how she started so many tank leaks.

No more vacations....

Wow...I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. Good luck with everything. Do you want me to hold on to your corals until your tank is ok?

Everything in sump is kaput. I got a bunch, a big bunch of palys from markitech this summer that won't fit into your tank but thanks Smitty for the offer. They are toughing through.

The pump runs for an hour or so, then spits the water back UP the drain and into the sump. I think I will give up on this pump and get a new one.

Bought new pump from fish tanks direct. After the problems with them, I hooked it up and the flow was perfect, for a week or so. Yesterday, I found the tank overflowing without me doing anything to tank other than feeding fish. Now all of a sudden, more water is pumping in than is draining out so the tank overflows. I even closed the return flow 50% yet it keeps overflowing. I took the pipes out of the overflow and the water drained completely out. I thought it took longer than it should but the drain hoses are not obstructed, so what on earth is the problem?

I just had surgery o my hand couple days ago and I can't do much but I can't for the life of me figure out what is wrong. Please somebody come up with some ideas. I have to shut the pump down until I figure out what's wrong, but with my injury, /i can't fix anything major for weeks....
