My "Tanked" Tank

if you wouldn't mind going back to page 2, a picture of the tank with the dimensions is near the bottom. Do you think 40 pounds is enough?

40 lbs barley covered the bottom of my 125 gallon I needed 80lbs. to get about an inch or 2 depth 72" L x 18" D

well, if everyone brings 5 lbs to the party you would have about 150. I have extra from my 40lb bag I started with. . . You'd have to be able to get it home though :)

sounds about right, You would think 250lbs of sand would look like a mountain, really doesn't though. i put 40lbs of sand in a 28 cube no less, and still was only 2.5 inch bed.

Guess I didn't think this all the way through did I? I was only thinking fish and corals. Boyfriend is going to kill me...

baby steps! baby steps!

Global Aquatics can get me Indo-pacific sand for a little over $1 a pound and I want to get some of that sand.

Haha.

There is no rush. Buy things when you get money. Just don't put the cart in front of the horse, thats how problems start.

Finally got the handyman to come back and finish building the stand. He put the walls up and measured for doors then demanded more money. We had a deal that he can have the old stand for scrap and build me a new one and I pay for materials. He wants money for putting the walls on the frame stating that a fish tank stand is only the frame and the walls are doors are extra. What an a**. I told him there is no such fish tank stand that is only a frame. After he stole the $20 for door hinges I told him to get out of my house and I fired him. Such sloppy work and he covered my living room again in saw dust.

He couldn't put the wood paneling on evenly....

He left bare wood with knotholes on the front of the tank. I guess he doesn't think those don't need to be covered....

I kinda of like the stand without doors. Since almost everything will take place in the basement, I don't really need to use any storage under the tank, I can hang nets on the back. The feeding cup can be put behind the tank.

Whaddya think?

It's all personal preference, I'd rather have doors, because eventually over time, it'll become storage for something, which will lead to clutter...which is one of my pet peeves. :)

wow this tank looks amazing...sucks about the ordeal with the guy building your stand...but otherwise this is going to be one awesome tank for sure.
