Installer says that bubbles are coming from skimmer. He placed a filter sock temporarily as I prefer a self sustaining system relying on controlling bubble thru baffles/valves siphons etc and not filter socks.
He is working on fine tuning that flow and will be checking with the skimmer designer that he knows personally. It is a huge expensive skimmer and I hope they will have a positive answer. For a hobbyist this is huge setup but if it works properly then it is worth it. So far it has not been easy to fine tune it and more importantly to manage the bubbles without filters!! I know/hope that everything possible will be examined by our installer. Here is a picture of the skimmerView attachment 2245

Wow thats massive, best of luck with the issue!

Your tank is an inspiration (and how it's built into the wall, etc) for my next build someday.... in our next house but I'm already thinking! Stunning, and would love to check it out sometime.

Thanks Tom I really appreciate your comment and interest. Nice to get compliments from fellow hobbyist.
Few have expressed interest in seeing the tank. If there is a way for someone to coordinate a joint visit that would be great.
Otherwise anytime you want to come then let me know and we can arrange something. We offer coffee or tea to our visitors.

Thanks Landon. It is massive and so far difficult to fine tune and so I wonder if possibly it is not as effective as the new stuff that is on the market for large setups , but I am not an expert and I will reserve final judgement till all tuning by installer is done. I saw at Beyond the Reef they were using an octopus system on a larger setup than mine, that I would investigate if this one does not improve in performance, bubbles & leakage. Installer will be fine tuning it next week I believe and I would love this skimmer to work for me.... I think it will, installer is good at his craft. Proof is in how well it performs and how easy to fine tune and stop leakage we are experiencing

Yeah i know they have a diablo that is good up to like 400 gallons. They do come with some hefty price tags though. Hopefully it gets resolved speedily.

Appreciate the info Landon. My system is 500+3X65= total about 700g
What is the biggest diablo ? Price range? Ease of tuning? Is it the 350 for about 720 on sale at Bulk Reef or do they have a larger one??
Mine was discounted I think because of my rather large commitment. but still was substantially costlier by more than three times the diablo. Price was and still is accepted by me as long as it does the job with ease of tuning and as importantly NO BUBBLES and No leakage. I did not research anything since I had been away from the hobby and relied on a VERY trusted Pro and a professional in the hobby considered a Friend by me!!

He definitely knows what hes doing, done a pretty darn good job thus far.
He sure knows his profession and how to fix things. He has been engaged at various capacities in all my 3 tank over a fifteen year time span, with increasing responsibility assigned to him. This setup is 200% his design his preferred equipment etc... So my expectations are high that my request of having a system that can run with least interference from anyone especially that we plan on traveling and tank has to run on its own for a week at a time between house calls, That's what we specked from day one and that is what he is providing and that's what we hope we are getting at the end PLUS a great looking well done piece of furniture. Installer is a great carpenter as well!! We have had frustrating moments but things are getting back on track the correct way and we are happy

In my new system of 500 g plus three by 65 g for a total of almost 700 gallons, our installer has provided a separate pump for the skimmer, A diablo DC10500 and it is setup at the lowest speed/flow level of the six available levels. Due to excessive bubbles in the DT the installer placed today a valve on the inlet to the skimmer to cut down on the flow back into the sump from the skimmer which seems to be the primary source of the bubbles. Not sure if this will help of not (will determine that in a day or two) My question do we have adequate flow for a 700g system for proper amount of skimming??? Any advise is appreciated

LOOKING AT IT THIS AM WITH A FRESH SET OF EYES: I believe the valve is on the return from the sump, not on the supply side. Is this OK for the performance of the skimmer & the system is all good?

First Video of new setup

Hope this works as I am not good at taking videos let alone posting them.. Here goes.. Let me know what you think, that is if anything gets embedded successfully::: Pls excuse us for the extensive bubbles, Installer is trying very hard to eliminate and they are noticeable in this video. Pls excuse the looks in the fish closet as it is work in progress. We are adding exhaust fan, adjusting skimmer, organizing all the electrical, may need some shelving. Will post another video when all is done in three weeks or so...

Xenias moving onto tank's return plenum

I like the return plenum to have various corals on them. Here is a picture of one xenia making the move. I have several that have already moved onto the plenum
