Niiice! I would love to one day have a tank of this magnitude.
Thank U Izzy Have been dreaming of this setup for the past 20 yrs till we could afford it!! Much nicer than previous setups...
Fine tuning is next
Thanks Tom A dream coming True!!! Appreciate all the support from fellow hobbyistsMan that is a nice setup cant wait to see how it progresses
Installer says that bubbles are coming from skimmer. He placed a filter sock temporarily as I prefer a self sustaining system relying on controlling bubble thru baffles/valves siphons etc and not filter socks.what about fixing the air going in at the bottom? bubbles gotta come from somewhere so id start with the source
Appreciate the positive comment Rich. Tank is Starphire glass front & back and is almost eleven feet (130 inches by 30 by 30)I love it thanks for sharing, is that a 10 foot tank ??? Beautiful

He is working on fine tuning that flow and will be checking with the skimmer designer that he knows personally. It is a huge expensive skimmer and I hope they will have a positive answer. For a hobbyist this is huge setup but if it works properly then it is worth it. So far it has not been easy to fine tune it and more importantly to manage the bubbles without filters!! I know/hope that everything possible will be examined by our installer. Here is a picture of the skimmerView attachment 2245
Thanks Tom I really appreciate your comment and interest. Nice to get compliments from fellow hobbyist.Your tank is an inspiration (and how it's built into the wall, etc) for my next build someday.... in our next house but I'm already thinking! Stunning, and would love to check it out sometime.
Wow thats massive, best of luck with the issue!
Appreciate the info Landon. My system is 500+3X65= total about 700gYeah i know they have a diablo that is good up to like 400 gallons. They do come with some hefty price tags though. Hopefully it gets resolved speedily.
Appreciate the info Landon. Installer is here and he is replacement the to acrylic head with one that you rotate to lock in & out. Will be mush easier to clean and more importantly the previous head leaked. More info later.I think thats the biggest, ASM does some big ones for pretty good prices actually. Ive never had one but there's this http://www.aquacave.com/ASM-G-6-Protein-Skimmer-P1248.aspx
He sure knows his profession and how to fix things. He has been engaged at various capacities in all my 3 tank over a fifteen year time span, with increasing responsibility assigned to him. This setup is 200% his design his preferred equipment etc... So my expectations are high that my request of having a system that can run with least interference from anyone especially that we plan on traveling and tank has to run on its own for a week at a time between house calls, That's what we specked from day one and that is what he is providing and that's what we hope we are getting at the end PLUS a great looking well done piece of furniture. Installer is a great carpenter as well!! We have had frustrating moments but things are getting back on track the correct way and we are happyHe definitely knows what hes doing, done a pretty darn good job thus far.
LOOKING AT IT THIS AM WITH A FRESH SET OF EYES: I believe the valve is on the return from the sump, not on the supply side. Is this OK for the performance of the skimmer & the system is all good?In my new system of 500 g plus three by 65 g for a total of almost 700 gallons, our installer has provided a separate pump for the skimmer, A diablo DC10500 and it is setup at the lowest speed/flow level of the six available levels. Due to excessive bubbles in the DT the installer placed today a valve on the inlet to the skimmer to cut down on the flow back into the sump from the skimmer which seems to be the primary source of the bubbles. Not sure if this will help of not (will determine that in a day or two) My question do we have adequate flow for a 700g system for proper amount of skimming??? Any advise is appreciated
