That's pretty good growth... I dig the reefer's. I think I may pick up the 425xl next time i see it on sale on BRS

Yeah they are some nice tanks, I was pleasantly surprised. They have armored seams too so when you are cleaning the glass there is no way to scrape up the silicone. If you want my honest opinion vs BRS, I would wait until the Aquatic Experience in November and grab one of the show floor displays from them, can save some good money.

Keep in mind the 8/4 pic had 2 little clumps right in the front of the reactor. The 8/11 pic does not show how the chaeto has wrapped all the way around the reactor.

how is it doing for keeping the little stands that alsways seem to break off from getting into the tank? This was my only gripe with cheato.

I haven't had a problem with that yet, knock on wood. My reactor dumps into the drain chamber before the filter socks so if that did happen the socks would catch it.

I was doing my weekly 5% water change, I always clean the skimmer collection cup with just paper towels so that it stays "seasoned", and discovered that the center tube has its own seal making it removable. Talk about making it easy to clean a collection cup, lol.

I followed the Red Sea Reef Mature Program. Every number hit when they said it would. Saw nitrite and ammonia spike when they said it would. Even their phosphate and nitrate numbers came in and dropped slowly down to every day and number they said it would. They get my seal of approval.

How long did you run the Reef Octopus for? Setting up my XL425 and got the same skimmer after waiting a month for it. Hopefully it's not to loud or quiets down after breaking in. Tank is in the unused dining room with another tank and adding a few chairs so doesn't need to be extremely quiet for me.

For about a week or so. It is fairly quiet compared to most skimmers.

Worlds first Apex and Reebrite Controlled/Dimmable ARID reactor. Whaaaat. I will just park this here.

Thank you Tullio! One of the handfull of companies where the owners actually develop and make the products so they can help you, are willing to help you, fix and troubleshoot directly. They know their products because they actually make them.

Finally got water in my XL425 last night and turned the skimmer on. Once I closed the cabinet doors it's quieter than I thought it would be, but I can see how it would be an issue in a bedroom or somewhere really quiet.

Nice! I'm ready to upgrade to a 525xl already lol. The Ultra Reef Skimmer I have now is a awesome, so awesome I am going to have to put in a cycle to allow the chaeto reactor some nutrients.

Please update a pic of the cheato. Thanks.

That chaeto is dead lol. It brought my no3 and po4 to undetectable and died with nothing left to feed on. I now have completely taken the skimmer out because it was oversized for the tank anyway and put in a new batch of chaeto.

The tank is rather new. So, raising cheato may be premature.

After small pockets of detritus build up here and there, they will have a constant stream of nutrients to feed on. With your aggressive export setup, I sure hope your planning on fish.
