rmeugene's transition build

No...I have a CPR RSS 7 overflow box with a 1" bulkhead to a 'T' with a cap on top and out the bottom for the drain. For the return I have a Mag9 with 1" hose going to a 90 into the 3/4" bulkhead. I did the drill a hole and put a piece of 1/4" tubing thing in the cap on the drain. But what I really think I am fighting is the throttling back of the mag9. I am figuring the overflow box can handle it but the 1" bulkhead cannot as I am having to throttle it way back. Plus this cad lights 100 is making a lot of noise...

Sent a video of my cad lights shooting off the top of the collection cup on startup...guy could not believe it. Sent the pump back for a replacement. Mag9 definitely too much pump...bought a waveline dc4000

Apex currently is running a radion gen2 mounted in the stock hood, MP10, avast ato with peristaltic pump, 2 heaters. Will be starting up the cadlights pls-100 skimmer next and then adding a few switches as protection from water levels low/high. Have the radion running about 20% and the hood has no warmth at all. Shouldn't be a problem as I don't see me upping this to much more than 30%. Do get some spotlighting of colors with it being so close to the water - even with the wide angle lenses.
First pic is current 24 which is one of the first jbj made with leds. Also had the MP10 in there prior to moving it to the 29.
Second pic is a board I mounted all the electronics to so I can slide it behind the tank which is diagonally in a corner.
3rd is the fts of the 29 with nothing in it.
4th pic is the sump which I also moved from the 24 setup.

So I have the radion with all colors 100% but the overall intensity at 10%. Is that ok? Coral were under 13 1.3w leds - 5 10k & 820k - in the JBJ hood. Or should I only be using certain colors at lower individual intensity? Not so much worried about individualizing for color right now - more just worried about screwing up my corals with too much light.

Well...have everything placed in preparation for my next purchases - a clam and a anemone. Have cleared most of the sandbed across the front of the tank back about 6". I am figuring an RBT? With the hopes my clowns will enjoy it.

Also wanted to say I am REALLY hating my cad lights PLS-100. Noisy and not consistant.

Anyone have any experience adding plastic hinges to a biocube hood? One thing the nano cube had over the biocube is having a hinged top!

Still need to look into switches for turning things off if things go bad. One of these days I will actually have time to play with the Apex.

Had an interesting event the other day. Had my return pump off for some misc tank checks and when I turned it back on it started overflowing out of the display before the circulation started! What would cause a sudden change like this? Any ideas? Has been setup running very well for almost 2 months...

Last night I had to take the elbow off of the overflow to get things to not overflow before water started circulating. :( This is to the point where I have my return pump fallback set to off in case there is a power outage when I am not around...

I did notice that when turning off the return pump that when the water is going down the return nozzle it is making a suction noise - which I don't seem to recall before. Just cannot figure this out.

Make sure there isn't a blockage in the drain piping. Sounds like the return pump is pushing water from the sump into the tank once started, but the water isn't draining, or draining fast enough back to the sump.

So I am still fighting this issue. Coming off the bulkhead for the return down to the sump I have a "T"...the bottom goes down to the sump and the top has a cap with a hole drilled and a piece of air tubing with a cheezy valve. I use the valve to regulate the air which alters the flow within the overflow box. So the tubing ends up with some gunk which causes the siphon not to happen quickly enough and the tank will overflow. I am debating on just putting an air valve directly on the cap...is there a need for the tubing? Any other ideas of a setup? We will be vacationing soon and don't want to have to worry about this!

There should be no need for the tubing. Put an air valve in and fine tune. Simulate a sustem shutdown and restart to test.

So I finally added my hog.5 from the group buy to my sump(don't judge me…been busy!). I have the pump going 24 hours but the light for 18 hours per the directions. It has been running since Saturday and I think I see some discoloration but how long before you really see growth?

Man im impressed how u go that long with a new toy and not playing with it . Lol

Ok…hog.5 is growing algae. Still getting carpets of it on my sand bed. And I keep pulling out about 5 plugs and removing what is on them. Is there anything you can dip the plugs in to help keep it from growing back on the plugs?
