Sawdonkey's 220 Thread

I'm stuck at the Orlando airport and burning time. I was looking at some photos of before I killed all of my acros. I came across this one that shows what looks like a heathy Palmer's Blue, but if you really zoom in, you can see aefw eggs on the rock on the left side of the pic. Crazy I never noticed that. Was that a pic of yours .

OK, new lights are up. 4 Ocean Revive T247. I'm really liking the spread I'm getting. They whole tank is lit up nicely from front to back and end to end. The color is much whiter than I'm used to, but I'm going to roll with it for a few days to see if I like it. These lights are mounted to the underside of my canopy, so they are very solid and don't swing like my old ones. They are also about 3-4 inches higher off the water too.

I've taken apart my new lights twice now and changed out some LEDs. Now I have three whites in each fixture's blue channel. This allows me to run the blues only at night, but it isn't just super blue. I also took the greens out of the white channel and replaced some of the whites with blues. I run the white channel from 1:00 to 10:00 and the blue channel from 3:30 to midnight.

The guts to the Ocean Revive fixtures are the same as Evergrow. You can tell they are made in the same place. Same connectors, same power supplies, same screws, same diodes, etc. I like this, because I've tinkered around with the Evergrows enough to really get to know them.

I plan to start buying acros again in about three more weeks. I think he AEFW should be long gone by then.

Here are some pics.

Question for you. I have a 46 bow front. Do you think one of these lights would be enough? Just to do some zoas and palys

It would keep stuff alive, but it would look bad. The sides would be dark, and I assume you have a center brace? If you hung the light in the center, the brace would cast a shadow. You can see the shadows in my tank from my two braces. I think you'd be better off with a longer fixture since you don't need it to be too wide. The 24" Evergrow/reefbreeder/Photon sould be perfect. You could also do two of the Ocean Revives for less than $300. That would work well.

Okay that's what I was worried about is that stupid center brace. Thank you for the input I'll have to look into it some more

My tank is so boring without acros. I've found tiny specs of acros growing here and there, so I kalk paste over them when I find them. They are pretty much microscopic, but they may be enough to keep aefw alive. I closely inspect every night to see what I can find. I'm pretty sure all acros are dead and gone, but I keep finding tiny pieces. I think I'm going to wait until mid Jan, to start restocking with acros. Here are some non-acro pics:

Adjusted the scape a little today. I connected the two middle rock piles to make a big arch. I think it is going to look pretty awesome once it's covered in acros. Larry King, my emperor, has already claimed the space under it as his own. Look at all of that bare rock just waiting for acros.

Just thought this was a cool shot of my Reef Tech Starburst Cap. It's getting pretty big. The older areas develop cool darker veins. It's had to see without looking top down.

My tank will be getting a handful of acros tomorrow. Very excited to have acros again after 2.5 months living acro-free. I'll be making a nice drive up near Lake Geneva to pick up the new frags from one of our Sponsors here. :woohoo:
