Sawdonkey's 220 Thread

Got my Triton results back today. I thought I'd give it a shot to check on the things I don't test for. Everything looks Ok for the most part. Bromide is a little high (but I have no idea how this impacts a tank or what to do about it). K is a little low, but Lithium is really high. I guess I should stop dropping watch batteries in my tank? The only action I'll take due to these results is to dose a little K.

Took some pics yesterday. Mostly of my older stuff, because my acro frags aren't much to look at yet. Tank is running smoothly, except for some weird algae I've bee getting. I suspect it may be dinos, so I've been dosing peroxide, shortened my light schedule, raised my alk to 9, and have been aggressively vacuuming my sandbed. I've had no ill effects, just trying to keep the tank looking good. On with the pics:

ORA Fluorescent Green Birdsnest. One of the very first corals in my tank.

ORA Kelly Green Psamacora. Another one I've had forever.
View attachment 10352

Forest Fire Digi. Another one that I've had forever.
View attachment 10353

Orange Setosa. This is toward the rear of my tank so I often overlook this. I just noticed that this thing has gotten huge.
View attachment 10354

BC Shaggy Del Fuego. Just a frag, but coloring up nicely.
View attachment 10355

BC Therman's Rainbow. I got this as a TINY frag, and it's still a tiny frag. It's laid down a nice base, so hopefully it will take off soon. Adam's (Battlecorals) colony of this is absolutely beautiful.

BC Sky Dopple. This thing has really shifted colors in my tank over the last few weeks. It is looking sweet, but unfortunately I cannot pick up the colors with my camera. You'll have to take my word for it.
View attachment 10357

BC Hyperberry. This thing is coloring up, but it took a real beating in it's first few weeks in my tank. My fish knocked it off of my rocks about three times, so it spent some time rolling around on the sandbed. It's gonna make it though.

Ultimate Miyagi Tort. Unlike the Sky Dopple, this thing photographs really well!
View attachment 10359

BC Rosaria Rainbow. This one is growing nicely.

A few more:
SunnyX Sunset Milli. This really took off when I first put it in my tank, but is seems dormant lately.
View attachment 10361

BC Gary's Yellow, turned into more of a Gary's Green in my tank.
View attachment 10362

Blue Matrix. Love this coral.
View attachment 10363

Don't know what this is. This is another one that has completely shifted colors recently. I like where it's going.
View attachment 10364

Ultimate Rainbow Prostrata. This has really colored up recently.
View attachment 10365

A couple of monti caps I've had for a long time. I love the Reef Tech Starburst.
View attachment 10366

Birdsnest growing out of a monti cap. I thought the monti would kill it, but it's been fine for quite a few months.

My tank was at 74.5 degrees this morning. The second finnex 500w heating tube quit working in two years. Luckily it was the weekend and I was home to notice the temp. I have another finnex tube laying around, so I put it on the tank. Stupidly, I did not have redundant heaters which is precisely the the reason I had the second tube. I was just too lazy to hook it up. Never again.

Just some other updates. A lot of the frags I got from Battlecorals and Hung are really coloring up and starting to take off:

RMF Raspberry Lemonade:

BC Glowsktick. This was looking a little bleached and didn't seem to keep the yellow. I moved it down to see if that helps. If it turns green, I'll move it back up:
View attachment 10626

BC Hyperberry. This got really beat up in it's first week in my tank. The shape still looks bad, but you can see the color potential:
View attachment 10627

BC Shaggy De Fuego. I like where this one is headed:
View attachment 10628

BC Rainbow Rosaria. This seems to be growing pretty well:
View attachment 10629

PC Rainbow. I had to get this one again. Right before I got the AEFW, my old PC Rainbow was starting to take off. This one has laid down a nice base.
View attachment 10630

Palmer's Blue. This was my biggest loss when I got AEFW. My colony was getting pretty big. I had to replace it. Adam Battlecorals gave this to me for free. It was two little chunks that are now encrusted together. I have it pretty low in my tank, but it seems to be bluing up pretty well.
View attachment 10631

BC Blueberry Field Austera. This thing may be the fastest grower I've ever had in my tank. I hope it colors up some more.
View attachment 10632

JF Bonsai. This is growing pretty well. It seems to grow a lot quicker than my old GARF Bonsai.
View attachment 10633

BC Red Robin. This turned really pale after putting it in my tank. It has colored up nicely.

They are 90 degrees which comes standard. My coverage is really good since I have them front to back. The fixtures are only 4" from the front glass and 4" from the rear.

Probably about ten inches off of the water.

Nothing new. Corals are growing, but nothing impressive. I thought I had dinos for a while, so I was dosing hydrogen peroxide for a while. I think that set my corals back a little. I'm starting to see better polyp extension now. My colors aren't as impressive as I'd like them to be. My Vivid's Rainbow is still kinda maroon an not coloring up like my old piece. I really haven't changed anything in my system. I've had a little trouble stabilizing my alk as the seasons changed and my evaporation rate changed. The alk has bounced abound between 7 and 9.

Here are a few pics. I'll shoot a few top-downs tomorrow.

I think the theme song of my tank should be All Bass, No Treble. All of my acros are encrusting, but no signigicant branches except on a few pieces.

Vivid's Rainbow. THis has been brown for a while, but I think the colors are heading the right direction. I had a frag before that was beautiful and it took a while too.
View attachment 11068

BC June Ruby. This is starting to show some promise, but nothing much to look at yet.
View attachment 11069

BC Rainbow Rosaria. Another major encruster.
View attachment 11070

Sunny X Sunset. Starting to show some promise, but I cannot get good PE out of this, especially for a millie.
View attachment 11071

JF Bonsai. This has been a fast grower for me.
View attachment 11072

BC Therman's Rainbow. Serious encrusting, no upward growth!
View attachment 11073

Pink Lemonade. I get pretty poor PE out of this, but the yellow color is pretty good.
View attachment 11074

Copp's Efflo. This encrusted pretty quickly. I hope it takes on the traditional efflo shape soon.
