Is the slow startup on every start, even on and off via an Apex or similar (I'm thinking of feed modes via controller), or do you have to use their controller?

I use their controller. I think all DC pumps start up slowly. I don't like turning my return on/off because i fee that it is hard on the pump and it changes the level in my sump, making my skimmer overflow.

I'm not really into controllers. I have a reef keeper, but it only controls my two heaters.

Howd you get it apart I tried taking mine apart to clean it and nothing would move. Felt like I was going to break something

Love the champagne coolers. The one I got from you before was just coloring up when my tank crashed. That and the spongode were doing awesome

Went to the Cubs game yesterday....got drunk (obviously) and came home. At about 8:00, my ATO tank was dry, so i put the RODI hose in the tank, turned it on.....and fell asleep. Woke up at about 4am and remembered what I had done. Ran downstairs and my sump was nearly full, the skimmer was overflowing.

So I made about 2O gallons to fill the ATO and about another 10 that went into my tank. The output of my ATO hose is lower than the top of the ATO tank, so it just siphoned into the sump.

Salinity was at about 1.024, so everything should be fine. Times like these make me glad a have a big tank. This episode would have nuked many tanks. I guess i should get my drinking under control.

LOL alcohol is a hell of a drug, thank god for big tanks! Ive done something similar before, over how much time will you increase the salinity back to 026

I've done similar stupid things after a few, including forgetting to turn off ALK pump that was just supose to only top off ALK levels. Drinking and reefing can often be a dangerous game our reoulette. Good luck, 1024 isn't bad.

I did the salinity increase somewhat this way.
I was at 1.024 and made salt water at around 1.030 and used it as top off. Totaled around 5gallons one day at slow rate.
Worked well

Wow good thing you ended up remembering about it. That could of ended up really bad. Glad to hear everything is pretty much ok

I don't think I can add salt through ATO because my ATO is full of kalk. Not sure how that would go down.

I just threw a bunch of salt in a five gallon bucket and siphoned tank water into it. I've been adding it back in every few hours or when I remember.
