Sawdonkey's 220 Thread

I decided to get a T-247B. I am really worried about nuisance algae at higher intensities, but the corals really need it. If Spartanman was running 30% on his 18" cube, I will probably have to start with less on my biocube 14.

What is your ratio between Ch1 and Ch2? I can probably use less blue since my tank isn't deep. Though yours seems just right.

When i had it over my 50 cube i was running 100% blue and 30 % white and thats lot of light :)

On a biocube 14 and not sps dominant you can run it probably at like 60% blue and 10% white and thats a lot of light

This is all imo

Is this back of the napkin calc sound?

60W x 60% = 36W
60W x 10% = 10W
36W+10W = 46W or 3W per gallon?

It does sound a SPS level type of lighting. I am actually at 36W right now. So, I will have to ramp up to those levels slowly. Not even counting quality or optics.

90% blue 55% white. However, I have changed out lots of LEDs, so my lights are very different from stock. The nuggets change is that I swapped a lot of cool whites with warm whites.

I want to change bulbs, too. I would like change out the red, green and 10000k for 20000k.

Did you buy the bulbs from the manufacturer? Is it a drop in replacement? Thanks again.

Hey man how has your Imperator done in your reef? I'm considering adding a Juvi Majestic, and don't really have much experience with the larger Angels. I've got an SPS reef. From what I understand they're usually pretty good with SPS, it's the softies and LPS that are problematic.

He will eat z&ps instantly and eat the flesh off of chalices. He will mow down gsp. He definitely nips my SPS and caused quite a bit of damage. There are a few tip bitten off of different acros every day. You have to either tolerate the damage or don't get a large angel.

Perhaps, GSP will keep him busy enough in a cost effective manner. Hopefully, they taste better to him.

No, he can mow down a huge piece in one day. Feeding heavy helps, but he can't really be controlled. I only really have SPS, so not really worried about it.

I friend of mine that's a professional photographer brought over all of his equipment last night and spent some time shooting my tank. He's going to post process the shots today and I should see the photos later. Excited to see what he comes up with.

Here's a few I don't post too often because they recently got big enough to look like something.

BC Hyperberry has been a slow grower for me.

This is Wet Thumbs Double Doozy. It is growing well now, but I had it in a low light area where it was pretty dormant.

This is Joe Knows Reefs White Rose. I know you're thinking "this looks just like the one above it." Totally different coral, but exact same growth pattern. The Double Doozy is mint green with pink and the Joe Knows is white/grey with pink.

Oh, and here's Gary looking awesome:

This is CRT Red Unknown (one of Hung's signature pieces). It was a dud for a long time but recently took off nicely. Hung said his colony died so I'm one of only a few with this one.

This is my Reef Raft Cactus. One of my newer corals. It's similar to Flame Fox, but purple instead of red. Seems to be a good grower for me so far.

Friend came over with his camera equipment over the weekend and took this nice FTS.

It surely nips, but doesn't cause much damage as far as I can tell. The emperor is another story.....1/4 pieces with one bite.

I've never been too fond of the lemonpeels but PIA has been posting a lot of lemonpeel hybrids that are gorgeous!

The lemon peel is a jerk and probably my least favorite fish in my tank, but mostly for personality reasons. I think it's a jerk, but it's really pretty. The blue/purple around they eyes and gills just pops against the bright yellow. She's super mean to new fish and occasionally gets in tussles with my much larger fish. Hopefully this mystery wrasse puts her in her place quickly.

Well maybe I'll reconsider the lemonpeel then! How is the mystery wrasse doing?

Mystery is in QT and I'm doing tank transfer method. I'm doing the 4th transfer tonight. Probably do a couple more just to be safe. I ran Prazipro during one of the transfers. Might run it again. He's eating and seems good, but he's really shy. Hides in the PVC as soon as I come in the room.

I have a clear acrylic box he'll live in inside my DT for the first few days so he doesn't get shredded by my triggers. They were fine when I added a six line, so I hope they act similar this go around.
