Sawdonkey's 220 Thread

From JF, I picked up:
  • Tierra Del Fuego
  • Turaki
  • Blueberry Shortcake (this was a big 2" frag)
  • Christmas Mirabilis

From Captain's Corals, I got the Reef Raft Asia Ghostbuster. I have high hopes for this one.

I didn't get to the swap until about 3:40 and everyone was taking down their tanks. I think I got some good end-of-the-day deals.

I rearranged my rockscape because it was too high on the left side and some coral were getting baked. There were other corals that would eventually grow over and shade others. I think my tank is ready to grow out now and all corals will get better light. I also added two pieces of dry rock so my rock stacks are more slanted instead of vertical. I also finally figured out how to set my LEDs so that I can take decent pics without post processing them:

And now.......Time for Gunner's Green Grimer show! The are all corals that were in poor positions where they got insufficient light. Now, I'm hoping they all color up since they've made it to the light:

This thing has been living in complete shade for a year. I think it will turn blue now that its in the light:

Ultimatefrags Rainbow. At least it has one color of the rainbow....green:

I think my new Tierra Del Fuego could classify as a grimer currently:

Krishna gave me this thing. It could probably be called a grimer, but it's coloring up:

gunner come redu my scape. tank looks great. I got to get out there

Thanks Jay, Glen, and Chris. Jay, I'd be happy to help you scape your rock. I've had the same basic structure for over a year, but I'm always changing things as I get new corals and as corals grow out. It gets a lot more difficult as corals encrust. Let me know when you want to do this. I'm around this weekend. What are your tank dimensions? Pm me.

Gunner, I have to say, now that Pats 180g had been down for a while, you definitely have my favorite privately owned large reef (or any really) tank in the area. Great work, and if tank of the month ever starts back up, I'll be nominating you for sure.

+1 ... i didnt get a chance to see it in person YET but i bet .. the rock structure, the corals and most importantly the fish .. they just stand out ..

that green grimmer ( the last pic i gave you ) is pale red and green mix in the tank i got it from, i think it likes medium light but the tank i got it from its it high light and flow.. your piece seems to be encrusting way fast than mine ;)

Thanks Ted. That's a really nice compliment, but there are some really nice reefs around here. My coral is not nearly as grown out enough to qualify for a TOTM nomination. I do feel that I have everything pretty dialed in right now, so maybe I'll get there some day.

Well Krishna, you need to stop by. I meant no disrespect by calling the coral you gave me a grimer. I'm more making fun of myself for poor placement and allowing things to go green. The one you gave me is actually at the bottom of my tank and I think it is coloring up. I'm going to leave it there for a bit and see what happens. It lost all of its color (almost white) when I first put it in my tank.

with too much interwebz these days i put a face behind the lines when i read messages :) and yours is a smiley face with no disrespect haha

The new corals look great!

Ha! Thanks, but those aren't my new corals. These are some older ones that weren't getting enough light and turned green. Well, the Tierra Del Fuego is new.

I'll post the new ones in a few days once they're settled in.

Got some new gas pistons for my canopy today. The old ones wore out due to the constant exposure to saltwater. This makes it really easy to work in my tank because it holds the lid up while I work. I haven't had to take my canopy off since it got my tank.
