Shovelman is Awesome Build Thread

they never eat near or in their burrow do they? I think I read it's a defense mechanizm so predators don't smell the food.

The first or second feed after the molt was in the burrow. She hangs out in the open a lot. Seems to be more about when I happen to catch her more than anything else. But that makes sense, maybe they are clever enough to know there aren't any predators? I believe she has been in captivity for quite some time now. Just thinking outloud

Tried feeding a CBS three times now, after nothing happened the third time, started getting suspicious. So i was poking around in there with a flashlight, when I noticed her hammers. The front on both of them is missing!!! I don't know if it was like that from after the molt, or if she tried banging on the glass while she was still soft... It looks like she struck something and they busted. But at least now I know why she wasn't striking.

Edit:Trying to get a pic

Second pic shows the wound well. Seems like something that would happen from hitting something.

Just thought this was kind of cool.

Looking back at the previous posts, its has to be from hitting something. Those post-molt pics seem fine, but in that video they seem to have the same injury. Poor girl :(

Wow that's crazy bro. She definitely was striking really, really hard to have done that.

UV sterilization added. Thanks again Gunny! Jeff your CBS grew its arm back last night in my sump, he is ready for battle now!
no problem nice to final meet u and i cant wait for the fight vid and as an added bonus my buddy bought my coral banded but a cbs vs cbs shrimp vid wouldve been cool

She passed on her clam on the half shell today. Maybe it was soaking in Sel-BOOST for too long? Today was supposed to be a silverside day, so maybe she doesn't like me messing with her food schedule :p

Picture Update!!

Can see the scars the shell rot left, all the darker brown ovals.

Glass is a lil dirty :( Shows the damage on her hammers well tho.

Cleaning her eye

Have to post a Macro Eye shot...

Thanks man! I believe its starting to come back, maybe those lil orange/brown spots on her back? If she molts soon it should be almost done tho. Maybe one more after that, depending on how long it takes for her to molt and if it advances at all. But its not life threatening or anything atm, or at least no where near as bad as when I got her.
