Spartanman22's 80 DB

All four died within 4 days in the observation tank. Ammonia is non-detect verified by the ammonia alert badge and a spectrophotometer. Nitrates were non-detect as well. Salinity was 1.023.

Thats reasonable. I do the same. But nvr lost that many...also i wont qt more than 1 so its not as difficult to single out an error

I'll do batches, or if I add in at a later date just start the clock over. But needless to say I'll be taking a break from fish for a while. My wallet needs a breather! At least I have some fish back in the DT now.

I will be getting placing another order with PIA when I get back from vacation although this time around I'll stick to something a little hardier than the multibars.

Made it back from vacation and everything was looking great. SPS really seem to be turning around now that there's fish back in the tank and a contributing bioload. The current stocking lists sits at: multicolor angel, black leopard wrasse, and two clowns.

For my anniversary my wife bought me two fish. Not necessarily fish in overly fond of, but it keeps her interested in the tank so I'm ok with it! She got me a yellow tang and a baby blue hippo. The blue hippo obviously won't be a permanent resident, but given he's only 1" currently I think I can get a few years out of him. The wife was digging having the "Nemo" crew in the tank.

My next stocking plans are an angel from PIA, and then some assorted wrasses. I'm hoping to have a flame pair, rhomboid, and an ornate/potters harem, and maybe a Lineatus.

I got back from vacation and got my uv sterilizer hooked up and added 3 emeralds. The emerald crabs went right to work chow info on some nuisance hair algae.

Anyways, on to some crummy iPhone shots. Hopefully I'll get around to some DSLR shots this week.

Cand definatly tell diff in water clarity. Im trying new fish testing if health impres generally

Yes 8 watt. Undersized but this way I'm less concerned about overdoing it. Also I found it for a steal so I figured why not give it a try.

Can you please share the link or the scheme u created for your diy skim bucket? I'm assuming that float switch turns off your skimmer when it fills up? How did u do that? Did u actually splice a float switch line into the skimmer plug in essence damaging that plug for good if u ever want to disconnect the float switch?

Ya sure thing. It's just a simple Tupperware which I add a quick disconnect fitting into the lid to make removing the skimmer cup easy. The float switch is connected to the apex breakout box. I set it up as a standard float and programmed the skimmer outlet to turn off if that float is triggered. Since doing so I haven't had any overflow issues. I'd like to have a nicer fancier skimmate locker, but most of the available models won't fit in the small space I have left so I had to go the DIY route.

Dang that's what I was hoping you wouldn't say is the need to buy another module.. I wonder if the new apex has the breakout box included in the deal since it also now comes with the pm2 salinity module as well. I plan on upgrading to the new apex so I'll look into whether or not that featur is included.. I was hoping u spliced the float switch into an extension cord and plugged the skimmer into that which from what I understand should work

However I guess it would be more worth to buy the module because atleast then the apex will tell u when it's full and I can have my roomate empty the bucket if I'm out of town

The breakout box is awesome. You can never have enough float switches and I don't believe it's too pricey. Keep an eye out on the for sale threads. There's usually no shortage of apex stuff.

Went into AP during lunch today and picked up a couple goodies. Picked up a small Valentini Puffer for my office tank. He ate within 10 minutes of leaving the bag and is not even remotely shy. He'll be a fun little guy for that setup.

Also scored a pretty cool wellso as well

And the yellow and baby hippo continue to do well in QT. both are still quite skittish. I need to spend more time in front of the tank so that they get used to me.

Under 2", ate in the shop and then ate Rod's within 10 minutes of being in the tank. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Treat for parasites if hunger continues and no signs of growth or color enhancements. Or if it starts to get thin...soak mysis in Prazi?
