Spartanman22's 80 DB

Treat for parasites if hunger continues and no signs of growth or color enhancements. Or if it starts to get thin...soak mysis in Prazi?

He'll be treated with prazi regardless. I'll observe for a few weeks if I need to treat for any parasites that show up I will. But I'd rather not treat until there's a reason too.

How reef safe are these guys?

Like any angel hit or miss. I've had one that never ate food but chowed on SPS polyps. Coral did fine just never had PE. I've also had one that never nipped at all. So we shall see!

Well I just don't think it's meant to be with a Multibar. He's been doing great, eating real well. But on Sunday I started treating my QT with CP since I started noticing some ich spots on a Valentini puffer. The Multibar was doing fine last night swimming around and then this morning laying on his side in the PVC. He's not breathing heavily, nice and slow but I'm not too optimistic about it.

All other fish are doing fine so he just must not be handling the cp well. Either that or it may be an issue with collection methods.

Sorry to hear this, i was hoping you get some success with this one, was this Multibar from Reefwise?

Yes it was from Reefwise. He was eating great, he'd eat anything I put into the tank. Not sure why there was such a fast decline. Only took about 7 hours from swimming around happy to laying on his side.

damnnn not again :(

I think I'm going to just give up on QTing and try to stick with quality sources. I've lost so many fish in my recent QTing efforts. I've never had problems like this in the past. In my previous setup's I never QTd and only had one ich outbreak 6 years ago.

It's just so frustrating because you're doing what you think you should be doing and it's going horribly wrong.

I've never been much of a yellow tang fan but my wife liked it and was willing to buy it for me. So I said why not. He's quickly growing on me. Very vibrant colors, and although extremely skittish at first he's starting to warm up to me.

Then there's this guy, couldn't be more care free. Always out front waiting for a snack. I'm a bit nervous on how he'll do in the reef with all the high flow, but hopefully it goes well he's got so much personality.

The front half of my tank has been overrun with bubble algae. I've added multiple emeralds with no luck. So, my next round of qt may include a fox face. Not my favorite fish but somewhat necessary.

After this round of QT I am going to try and pick up my last show fish (regal or another dwarf angel) and then hopefully some killer wrasses.

Lol is that actually algae on a shrimp?!

Yes unfortunately. I need to swap out the GFO. I'm battling some hair algae on the sand. Nothing grows on the rocks just in low flow areas of the sand. I need to get my yellow tang through QT already! The algae will start to grow on the shrimp when he's about to molt.

I got a sleeper banded goby not long ago going to work on the sand. It stirrs it up good but also eating the micro fauna.

With the mp40s on each end the undertow of the powerheads keep the sand bed white as ever.

I may need to bump up the mp40's a bit to see if that helps. I'll likely look into some sand sifting fish after this round of QT.

Will I have any issues adding a second, smaller cleaner? It'd be great to have a pair. Could be a nice little food supply for my leopard

I was told that with inverts and stuff to add them when the lights go out so they have a chance at finding rock work to hide in as the predators will have a lesa chance to spot anything coming down from the surface as food.

Havent tried it but it sounds accurate.

After that it will be a cat and mouse game if the leopard shows interest. Or will be food

Last night I added Flo (wife's fish) and the Valentini to the display after a 5 week QT period. The cleaner shrimp was pretty excited about a new fish to "clean".

My cleaner shrimp are useless. They don't do that

My cleaner tries to clean everybody but the tang has been the only one who'd let him. This is the only cleaner I've ever had that's done any cleaning though.
