Spartanman22's 80 DB

Would they react better if you transfer them to the dt now ? They would have more to graze on and pec at

They would but I wanted to leave my DT fallow for one more week. I had what I thought was velvet. My DT has been empty for 4.5 weeks now.

Ok understandable. i was at xzotic aquatics today and they have one i asked if it was eating the guy there feed him and i noticed that they are picky eaters.he seemed to shoose what he wanted to eat from the mysis shrimp. but the other guys that ware with did motivate him to eat. they are beautiful fish indeed

They are very picky. I've had one that ate great but for the most part an established tank with plenty of LR for grazing is imperative.

Well unfortunately the little guy did not make it. Found him near dead this morning and he's since passed.

These fish are such stubborn eaters it's so annoying! There was one point where he was picking at nori and one day he was nibbling at mysis, but he just wouldn't eat anything with any authority. Big disappointment I was really excited about having a trio and that's not likely possible anymore.

As bad as this is, the other Multibar came over and started picking at the dead body. So part of me is tempted to leave him in there just to get something in the other two's bellies.

Sorry for your loss man, leave him in there if the other is eating it is my opinion. It is morbid but it's the circle of life if you wanna think about it that way. U also may be able to feed simultaneously while he is picking at the little one and perhaps make some kind of association with that feeding to eating actual frozen foods, whatever works, you don't wanna lose another one!!

The fish gods have decided that my recent fish woes just weren't quite enough so they've decided to give my Multibars Ich. I'm really hoping its Ich and not velvet. Either way I'm not sure if these would make it through TTM or QT since they aren't eating anything.

This is so incredibly frustrating. I've only ordered online twice from two very reputable vendors and both times have been rather poor experiences. For now on I'll be sticking to local acquisitions. At least that way if they tell me they're eating I can at least verify right away.

Well all three Multibars are dead. Nothing like flushing $300 down the toilet on a Monday morning. This is the last time I ever order online again.

Ya I won't ever be buying this fish online again. I was assured they were eating prior to purchase but in two weeks I could illicit any feeding response with over a dozen different types of foods. The only success I've had with this fish has been from Reefwise so if I get another that's where it'll be from. I had wanted a trio which is why I bought them from the vendor that I did, but oh well live and learn I guess.

oh boy ...sorry to hear your losses man ..

sometimes this hobby makes me think ...hmmm

It's making me think real hard right now! My plan was to do some cool, pricier fish, but given how badly fish quality seeks to be lately I'm starting to rethink my stocking ideas.

Thank goods coral are doing well otherwise I would be strongly considering calling it quits.

dibs on that rock tank and all if you quit :P

lol jk .. dont ever quit because things are not working out buddy .. that would leave a bad taste and you would want to come bck again and it would cost more ..

...wait till temps cool and re stock with fish as health seems to be better at cooler shipping temps

Ya I'm going to stick with Reefwise for most stuff, but despite losing these Multibars they were incredibly healthy they just wouldn't eat. The vendor has been great to work with and despite them being well out of the guarantee period they have still offered to assist on future purchases. So I will likely still go with a "show piece" specimens from them.

But I'll stick with Reefwise for the more common stuff.

Hah I won't ever quit I'm way too addicted but sometimes I really wonder. I think my wife and bank account would really appreciate it if I quit!

I get to add a rhomboid to the list of fish deaths. Whatever that face infection he had was never got better despite repetitive Furan doses.

I've been reefing for 9 years and have never experienced this many issues with fish, and I never used to QT. it used to be rare for a fish to die for me. Now I can't even get any through quarantine. The quality of fish lately is just pathetic.

At this point I'm done putting money into this tank. It's only Tuesday and I'm now $500 down the drain on fish. This tanks going end up being stocked with damsels just to keep some nutrients for the coral.

Well despite many frustrating fish deaths over the past 6 weeks, my QT and fallow period is officially at an end today. The surviving 5 fish are extremely healthy and anxious to get out of that 20 gallon! When I get home from work today I'll be moving the fish back to the DT.

Finally have some fish back in the DT. Melanurus doesn't look good. I haven't seen him eat in weeks. So I'm not overly optimistic about him.

I also picked up a couple leopards and a small copperband from a LFS I normally frequent; however, I'm throwing in the towel on this place for a while. I've purchased 10 fish at 4-5 different times from them in the last 2 months and not a single one has made it past a week in QT. I added a copperband and 3 leopards (1 ornate and a potters pair) on Tuesday and all 4 were dead this morning.
