Spartanman22's 80 DB

Now I just need to figure out how to get my welsos and scolys happy. I feed 3-5 cubes of food per day and they still are pale...I also dose aminos.

I don't know if this will help; when I dosed strontium and iodine my LPS really colored up and the polyp extension is crazy. I don't know if it was one or the other or neither.

I found some AEFW on a couple pieces a few weeks back. I've been dipping them in Bauer a couple times a week. I have since not seen any signs of them so keeping my fingers crossed.

Worked for me. I haven't had them resurface after dipping all mine for 5 weeks straight.

Made a real unfortunate discovery last night...aefw . Somehow some eggs must have slipped past my dipping regimen. Only two pieces were seen to be affected, but if two have aefw then they all do.

This really sucks because my acros were really starting to take off and coloring up like crazy. My PC Rainbow was finally starting to get some color besides red, WD was coloring up well, a few Millis were just looking unbelievable. But oh well I'd rather lose color for a bit than lose the coral.

I'll start a bi-weekly dipping schedule for a 4 week period starting tonight.

How did they do after their first dip or two? I only had a few acros lose color on me (smooth skin variety) but a lot of them started opening their polyps and looking better than before.

I haven't tested NO3 recently so not sure. But I figured I feed so much there'd be plenty of nutrients in there. All of the acros have responded well. I dip all new frags in Bauer and have never had a loss

IME, SPS is happy with 5ppm N03 and below....but LPS is happy 2ppm N03 up to about 20ppm.

I had N03 between 0 and 0.25ppm for a few months and ended up starving a bunch of LPS :(

I tried feeding more to get N03 up, but ended up with some kind of a weird P04/N03 imbalance...nuisance algae started growing, P04 settled in around 0.1, but couldn't get N03 up....the nuisnace algea would soak up the N03 and it would measure 0.25ppm. Added GFO to try and keep the P04 away from the nuisance algea...and once the P04 started dropping everything began starving! I broke the imbalance by dosing NaN03 every couple days...and then battling through nuisance algae for a few weeks. Now I'm back to 2ppmN03 & 0.03P04 with happy LPS & SPS.

Not saying this *is* your issue, just sharing my experience in case it might help you figure it out.

I have noticed an increase in algae growth on the glass. I've had to clean more frequently lately

Only slightly off topic, but which NO3 test kit do you use? Mine is only as sensitive as 2ppm, although I'd like to find a more sensitive test kit. I'm shooting for 3-4.

The RedSeaPro N03 test kit has resolution from 4ppm down

The ppm amount is opposite the color dot match

I'll have to run some NO3 tests this evening. I have a Hach DR 3900 I can run NO3 on for some very accurate results at work.

Stopped by RW today and grabbed a JF Flame, Inferno, and Pikachu. I'll try to get some photos up later tonight

The dimensions are awesome I just wish it was another 2" taller. But all in all it's a great tank. I don't have any pics of the Pikachu, nor do I know the lineage. As far as I knew the Pikachu came from TCK, so this may just be the same wild colony type. So probably not THE Pikachu but Reefwises Pikachu.
