Apex fusion is easy just follow directions should take about twenty minutes. Used to be so much harder lemme know if u have any questions. Did the doser get back on the wifi the way I said to do it? Just curious

No, I am still unable to update the firmware whether it's hard wired to the router or connected over wifi. It gets to step 4/5 then fails. Asking me to unplug the doser to restart the power.

I was able to get the wifi working again by restarting the unit. I think the internal wifi components got glitchy because in my router's access page it listed the ghl device as offline. Once I reset the doser to factory settings it popped up as an online connected device and then worked fine.

I think the issue with the upgrade is that it asks you to specify which port it's going to. Well when I go to device manager to find which port (1-xxx) I can't find it anywhere. So I'm guessing I have the wrong port number.

Also the apex fusion on my controller says it's down. I can access my apex over wifi with my computer/table using it's IP address. The dashboard says communication error for Apex Fusion. So I'm not too sure how to fix that, but I haven't really tried that yet. Spent all my time last night on the doser.

In other news I got a new light for my office tank, Aquamaxx Nemo Light. So far very pleased! There's a lot going on with the office tank. I'll be making a separate thread for that but here's some teasers

This is a sure fine way to not get any work done at work lol.

About your apex is it the new or the old version? If you type " get started Neptune Apex" into google the instructions are right there and very self explanatory. Don't try to do the old method with IP address and port forwarding etc that shit takes forever. Type that into google, click on your specific version of the apex and follow the instructions to a t and it will go smoothly. If not I can stop out sometime and help ya out.

Haha very good way not to get anything done! I work at a wastewater facility so I'm actually using this as a bit of a showcase of our facilities treatment efficiency. It is run using our plants effluent. Not pristine enough for a hardcore SPS setup, but softies and LPS should do fine!

I have the old apex. I downloaded the manuals for every component I have and made a binder with all of them. I followed the manual for the wifi setup and it works fine. But apex fusion is a bit of a problem at the moment. I'll give your suggestions a try tonight.

I've found that the sequence of turning on the apex and your network matters.

If you already have the 'fusion token' then on the handheld controller select network and then reset....and it should connect back up.

If you haven't entered the fusion token, follow the guide to do so.

Tested my alk last night and it was 5.6!! I normally run at 7.3-7.7. I upped my doser and will bring it up over the next few days. Nothing looks bad, but a few pieces look a little annoyed. I need to pay more attention to how much those coral are growing!

How long has it been since you upped your dose? I haven't upped mine yet but my corals are starting to get some decent growth so I may need to soon.

I've been upping it by about 0.25 ml per dose (24 doses a day) every 2-3 weeks. I just wasn't paying attention and forgot to up the dosage. When the wifi was down on my doser I kinda left it and forgot about checking levels for a few weeks. The corals kept growing and the alk dropped. It's back up to about 6.4 this evening.

So lets say...someone doses 200ml of 2part a day. And one drips 1gal a day of kalk...does that mean 1gal of 2part last much longer than 1gal of kalk?
Or 2part is stronger solution...higher concentration than super saturated kalk?

Even though its cheaper to run kalk ....

I ran kalk for a while with a PM kalk reactor ok my first ever setup. It worked well as a standalone system for a while, but eventually the alk demand from SPS grew faster than could be added via ATO kalk drip.

Picked up this little guy for the office tank yesterday. That's a 1" coupler for reference.

Yeah in an acclimation box for now. I'll take him over tomorrow. Office is only 4 miles away.

Once he outgrows the office tank I'll move him over to the DT.

Wife took a photography class and is helping me with the camera. Spent some time with the tank and camera today and got some decent shots.

I ran out of filter socks so the waters a bit cloudier than usual. Once they're done uploading I'll start posting.

I'll post the coral shots tomorrow. I really need to get a view box. Likely will just make one out of some spare acrylic laying around. I had to use one hand to block the diodes and another to take the shot.

Heading in the right direction!

I just heard a new tip for DSLR that I'm going to try out this weekend...and it looks like y'all may benefit from it as well.

Drop a piece of PVC in the tank, take a pic of it filling the frame, go into DSLR menu and set custom white balance on that pic...as long as the tank lighting remains on those settings... shoot away!!!

I haven't tried this exactly (under the blues with a piece of PVC) yet, but under 20k shooting at the sand and using that to set the white balance...I got this.

Halichoeres cosmetus (aka: Adorned Wrasse)

Try it out and let's see your tank's awesome colors!

Thanks for the tip! I had just been turning my blue LEDs way down prior to shooting. I'll give this a try tonight.
