Spartanman's cube

Fwiw my navarchus didnt eat while in QT for 4 weeks. Atleast not when i put the food in. He was in with 4 other fish. None wanted to eat while i was there. They must have picked at stuff while i was at work. Most of it would settle and they would not care for it.

Once in the DT they went crazy and ate everything.

My buddies potters didnt eat for 1st 2 weeks.

He is with a Dwarf Golden who is loving all the feeding attention! I was hoping having him with a good eater would help his eating response. The bad news is I noticed last night that he has ich. I've known it was likely in my system, but my fish never showed signs as they all are way overfed and kept very healthy. My intentions were to run all fish through TTM when I move to the 80 gallon in 2 weeks. None of the rock or water from the existing setup is making it into the new setup. So, I figured a round of TTM plus a week or two of prazi and everyone should be good to go into the new setup. But, with the regal not eating well I'm concerned about him making it now that I've noticed ich popping up on him. He's the only fish I can see visual signs on (obviously if he has it its in the system and other fish have it).

I'd like to start a TTM for him now. I've got a 36" 15 gallon tank I could keep him in as an observation tank until the move; however, I leave Monday for a week long business trip, and I don't know if my wife will be up to doing a tank transfer for me. I am going to try and get some more frozen foods and some garlic supplements tonight. I'm going to grab some oysters and see if he likes those. I think if I can get him eating well he'll be fine for another two weeks when I go to put everyone through TTM.

Anyone have any tips on getting a finicky fish eating. My new Juvi Regal has shown interest in food but hasn't dug in yet. I've tried mysis, brine, plankton, carnivore blend, spectrum pellets, and fresh little neck clams. He's interested just hasn't dug in yet.

Not to sound like broken record but ive had few of these regals same issue wouldnt eat and everyone ended up haveing flukes after fw dipping and seeing flukes come off within few days they started eating and pellets at that sadly me getting them to eat has been easy but getting em to live over 6 months has not panned out yet i know it can be done people have done it think topwater may of had one for while . Idk good luck its worth a shot ive had about 9 of them all had same issue all ate after treatments sometimes fw dip sometimes quickcure my guess is they get sick and stressed so they dont eat

I assumed a freshwater dip was done as you own couple angels. Flukes is a large issue with angels. As stated fw dips/baths prior to adding an angel to a system is best with QT or observation period done in a tank.

Ich is commonly used to describe visual signs. Ich actually looks like bumps...angels tend to get stress discoloration which some hobbiest jump to ich claims.

Is it ich? Bumps n irritants?

Or just discolorations/stress

Good luck. Keep us posted.

I did not freshwater dip. I'm doing a prazipro dose on my whole setup currently. And it is definitely ich unfortunately. Due to the bad timing of my upcoming trip I think my only realistic option is to keep him as is and try to get him eating well. I don't want to start a TTM when I'm going to be gone. I'm not sure I can count on my wife to handle that.

Got myself some LRS, Rods, oysters, octopus, and mussel plus garlic guard. He's gotta like one of those!

Well it's not looking good for the regal. Hasn't eaten anything and I can't really think of anything else to try. Found him on his side this morning with labored breathing, covered in ich. Started TTM this morning, but with him in the state and the lack of eating I'm not expecting much.

Ya it couldn't be worse timing either because I leave Monday for a week. So running TTM is going to be challenging. But at this point I don't think he'll last another 3 days what with him not eating at all.

Well the regal didn't make it. I pulled him into a QT to start TTM but yesterday while I was gone my wife accidentally turned off the wall switch that controlled the outlet that the heater and power head were attached too.

Ugh ive done that i went through whole house and disconnected that garbage i shut my whole reef off one day

Ya it was unfortunate, but oh well what's done is done. I think I'll hold off for a couple months until I try to find another.

On a positive note my Dwarf Golden has been eating extremely well and is nice and fat!

Those r nicest dwarfs only one i never had how has he been with corals

First round of fish are almost through with TTM. They've been doing pretty well. The swallowtail angel is pretty beat up from swimming into my gig while trying to catch it. It's right pectoral fin is pretty beat up and there's an open wound right where it attaches to the body. But she's been eating well and active. I added melafix last night to try and prevent any bacterial infections and will dose again later today.

The new tank gets setup Tuesday which is when they'll be done with TTM. So, they can go right into the new tank.

I also found my forest fire digi super ticked off with burnt tips and tissue die off the other day. All other SPS look happy. Alk has been steady at 6.7-7.0 (I've been slowly raising it). I've got another forest fire piece about 4" away from the colony that is totally fine. So, I'm at a loss on this one.
