The very start of a 75 gallon build

You did it! Promised plumbing on Sunday, and here it is! Now get some water in that thing so you can get your bleeding apple scolly (@insane coral has a really nice one right now).

I filled the tank with fresh water to test for leaks and noise. Good news is that there are no leaks.

At first there were a lot of noise from the drains into the sump. Since my pump is very strong, I had to restricted the return lines with the ball valves. I also added a reverse durso system from the drains into the sump. The noise is a lot better after that. However, I think I need a smaller pump so I can 1) fully open the ball valves, 2) save electricity, and 3) further reduce vibration noise. I ended up ordering an eheim 3000 which is supposed to be super quiet and has variable speeds.

To Do List:

1) Mount lights
2) Rockscape
3) Add saltwater + Dr. Timmy

I am using reef breeders 32 photons which is 297 watts. I will have 120 optics on the inner lights and no optics on the outer lights. The lights will also be about 8 inches from the top so hopefully no shadows on the edges. I will have to play around with the optics configuration and height with a par meter.

I've read a lot of people that are happy this light on a 75 but I will judge for myself. I plan to keep a mixed tank so most likely zoas and chalices on the edges and sand bed and SPS towards the middle and top.

What light are you using?

Yay! Brackets and lights are up! Vu was frustrated with me because I kept saying no to all the hanging light options he gave and showed me. But then I saw this one and I loved it!

Just need to aquascape then add water now.

Looking great so far guys and i agree i like this brackets its more pleasing then the original ones

Looking good but what you put on the death coral on top?

Didn't even notice that, I'd get rid of the dead coral skeleton and try and find a similarly shaped rock. Maybe even try and do another little platform since your short light will have the best SPS lighting in that area anyway.

That's what I am asking him. I hate death coral in the tank....

The arch is about 17 inches high and the tank is 21 inches.

If I remove the dead coral, that space becomes a small platform.

What do you guys think of rocks scape? Suggestions welcomed.

Looks great. My only concern is that on the left column, the platform on top will be the only place you can grow coral. The lower part will be shaded by the top. I'd try to offset the top rock and pin it with acrylic rods or epoxy. Then you'll be able to grow coral on the bottom of the column too.
