Vaping lounge! (if you vape, lets here what you have)

so I had to tighten my coil last night. I ended up making the wick too tight so I cut it down and then my coil wasn't touching the wick.

I pulled the coil tight around the wick and took off about 1/2in of kanthol. Yet I still am reading 2.2 ohms.... That doesn't make sense to me.

Flavor and vapor production has increased tho.

make sure you have a nice firm coil to wick contact, too tight with choke the wick and too loose will not give you flavor. Both case will also result in dry vapes.
As for the ohm to length, it reads it from post to post, so if you have the same length in between the posts you will get the same ohm reading.

I just made a new wick and new coil.

The wick fits tightly in the opening with a pin hole sized opening down the middle.

the coil is only 4 wraps this time and decently snug around the wick. It's reading in at 1.4 ohms. Vapor and flavor are definitely better!

good thing I got a sheet of SS mesh!

also I am using 30g kanthol

i would double check your ohms.... 4 wraps with 30 kanthal should give you less than 1.4 ohms. unless you have very short leads on your post. either way nice job.

according to what I read. a 3in coil will make it 1.8 ohm but 3in came out to be 2.1/2.2 depending when I fired it. So I decided to make a 2in coil and it's 1/3 of the resistance. Maybe the kanthol I got wasn't actually .30mm

Ok... Hmm, maybe I should recheck my meter. I have made coils with 30 kanthal at 5 wraps and it comes out to 1.4 or less depending on the length of the leads.

Lol.... Makes sense. Congrats on taking the jump into rebuildable. I think I missed it, what did you rebuild?

It's the smoktech rsst

Been working with the fogger... Not an easy rba to get working correctly. Very fussy on air draw and flooding. Not sure if I like it yet.

Wow guys, I have to say thanks! I am a cigar and hookah smoker. I like the idea of vaping and I have tried some disposable ones here and there and thought they were just ok. I needed more flavor, more vape and more options.

I still smoke cigars and hookah at least 2 or 3 times per week. I do not inhale either of them so it is more of a mouth hit. I was looking at a cheap rechargeable but now I will have to look into a much better unit. I read through this entire thread just now.

I am going to go up to free-cig and check it out and hopefully attend a beginner workshop. Right now, I am looking up all the recommended systems mentioned on here to have an idea. I would mainly use this in hotels and while driving. Sometimes I just want a smoke at home but I don't want to have to take a shower after going to the cigar lounge or put all the work into packing a hookah.

I travel often for work so having a vape is much more practical for me. You guys have put together a great thread here. Thanks again and I will be asking questions soon.

I've been vaping for almost two years now and just the smell of cigs or cigars is awful to me.

Free-cig is having a workshop this Saturday. My buddy and I are going to attend. The first one was okay, it was more suited toward people that have zero knowledge of vaping. I did learn a couple things I didn't know though, so it was definitely worthwhile.

The class they're having this Saturday will focus on all of the different devices, and atomizers. Should be good to go to if you more or less know what vaping is and stuff.
