Who likes to shoot and where

One of my many hobbies is shooting anything with a trigger (or fuse I guess). I find Illinois limited in the fun you can have with that type of equipment. I have been to:
Bristol Rages (CCKC)
Bass Pro
Gat
Maxon and a place out west whose name escapes me.

Who has been somewhere better?
 
Not too many places here in Illinois that I am aware of. Shooting used to be a huge hobby of mine. I grew up on 100+ acres where we used to shoot all the time. Unfortunately the wife has a rule no guns in the house....so I gave up guns years ago... Except...when I go up to Wisconsin...it is one of my favorite things to do. Up there...where there is wide open spaces...there are a few nice ranges for the cheddar heads to prep for deer season. What we need down here is a good outdoor range that has pistol and rifle shooting open to the public. There is a new gun shop out here run by a retired LEO and Ex-Military. He is working up to a point to hopefully opening up a range out in the boonies... If he does that... it would be awesome. Of course... I would have to find a way to hide a gun safe from the kids and the wife...

There's a spot 2 blocks from my house called sporting arms and supply 50 yard handgun range. I like that they allow us to shoot shotgun slugs tho. The main place we go to is in Indiana. The address I get when I drop a pin on my iPhone maps is

There's a 25 yard, 50 yard, 100 yard ranges and also a skeet range and even 30 yard bow range. I hate with indiana laws I believe you cannot shoot handguns if you are an Illinois resident or even carry into Indiana unless you are in law enforcement or military . But if you have some nice rifles tho I like this spot. There's also a private underground range a few blocks from my house it's right on the corner of 143th st. And kedzie in midlothian, il maybe Smitty has visited here? since he is a cop but I know his police department has their own outdoor range in Harvey. Which I hear is nice.

I do most of my shooting at Maxon in des plains. As far as local ranges go its nice and lets you shoot riffles indoors (have not found another place local you can do that) but the range is not very long so there is no real challenge for your riffle. If anyone is interested in a reefer shootout i'd been interested.

I can hear you guys shooting all the way at my house like once a month sounds like d-day when u guys are out there. It's only like 5 min away.

Midwest Gun Range on Odgen just west of 1st ave. Fox Valley Gun Range is outdoors but I don't remember the address.

Yeah, I am...i do agree with you that it need a remodel, but since the park district took control of it from the police dept, it has gone downhill. It used to be very nice when I first started years ago.
