Base of sps Turning white

I HAD a lot of sps but they weren't colonies so i dunno but my calc wouldn't get higher then 320 like ever lol. If u guys remember i had problems with my calc and alk both being low which is why i started dosing kalk. My alk used to be like 7

If you've got a lot of sps then yes, the calcium can easily drop faster than alk.

He doesn't have any colonies in there and not enough frags to warrant dosing, in my opinion. Water changes should have been able to keep up with his livestock demands.

What salts were you using? I use Salinity and I never have to dose Calcium EVER. My calcium is typically at or around 500 ppm. Alk on the other hand will go from 175 ppm to 100 ppm in 2 days if I don't dose.

And i was doing 10g per week water changes. Except for when i installed my sump that was a 40g water change

calcium dropping faster than alk would make me suspect low mag personally, they should either drop proportionally or alk will drop faster, carbonate is a more dominate part of coral skelton

JUST got off the phone with Chicago exotic animal hospital. They told me i need to give them by tank size and take a picture of my corals affected by the bugs and email it to them. They will they look into it and write a prescription. I guess Petsmarts the ones with banfield attached to them Carries interceptor and she said she hasn't heard anything about interceptor being discontinued. Anyone have a macro lens and can send me a pic of red bugs lol

There is a hospital for corals ?? :faint: never knew this

Spectrum is a type of intercepter. The regular intercepter is definitely discontinued. I have a friend who is a vet that confirmed she could no longer get it for me, so now I am hoarding my last pill.

People are only starting to experiment with it recently in enough volume to know. The few reports I've read are favorable, but it is not nearly as tested as interceptor.

well just started treatment on the tank. I guess i'll see how it goes. Hopefully no losses or anything other then Hermits lol

How are you treating your tank? When I did it a long time ago, I did 6 hours with interceptor, then 20% water change and activated carbon to remove the med from system. Then I repeat same procedure in 1 week, and a 3rd week. I only lost hermit crabs.

I'm going to keep with my weekly water changes. Tomorrow I'll run carbon for the day. All the hermits are dead already.
