Global Aquatics in Wood Dale

I know for sure Global has been reported to both local and state authorities for sales tax and operating a retail store in a business zone. No lfs will shop there so the place is truly retail as long as they can stay open.

im sure they be fine . they always been good to whoever i sent there. id rather shop there then any pet store. ive been to them all. only one i like is show tank only honest helpful pet store ive been to the other ones r just in it to sell u what ever they have on the self. people (pet shops that dont pay there bills) because they were whole sale and sell to public what ever when u can go get a fish for half price not sure what people besides petshops had to complain about . just my oppinion

I had problems with the fish I bought from there, spent 550 dollars and 4 of the fish died in a cpl days. That being saidI have had this happen at LFS.

Have had no issues with there coral and supplies were fine also. I am not recommending or telling people to stay away. The eel i bouht there is doing great.

Information wise only a few know what there are talking about. Alot of LFS still purchase from them. But yes they are upset because they are selling to public. In IL you can have two licenses one to sell retail and one to sell to public. They have to operate at different times and run seperate books etc. Ad yes they have to sales tax. Even if i went to a wholesaler and bought an item to be used by my store i would have to pay tax. Only no tax if you are going to resell the product.

One last thin when you go to a LFS as long as it is not a chain ask them for a better price or make them an offer a lot of times they will do it.

Enjoy and may all you tanks stay healthy and prosper.

Was just there yesterday well at exotic aquatic global was sold has new owners. Not 100% sure if they so wholesale any more maybe but dont know for sure. Had some good deals my tank is full but buddy bought blue face angel huge blue throat trigger some cool little odd fish forgot name and panther grouper all eating and healthy looking. But as with any lfs i did find some that didnt look so hot and sone dead. I think as long as u know how to pic fish u will be ok at any lfs if u just say ok i will take him and not watch him for while and ask to feed it no matter where u go u gonna have issues. I cant really tell yet if the exotic aquatics is going to be any different. Prices werent horrible but then again wasnt my money that got spent lol.

I believe they are still doing wholesale. I was there last weekend and I liked how they re-did everything. Alot more space to walk around. As for stock they had the good ol usual. I am a little dissapointed to hear Cisco ain't around though. To me he was the most knowledgeable there and did anything he could to help you out. In all honesty I don't know if I am taking to all the new owner bs. I still see the old owner sitting around behind the door in his computer. Just put a secretary up front to make things interesting. It's been well over a month or two since owners changed and he's still around. Oh well I guess. . .

I was there yesterday as well. My out of town guest wanted to see the place. I picked up some CUC and all of the choco stars they had available. At $4.50 each, it's a steal. They lowered the price on the tiny Chevron Tangs from $125 to $95 and they listed prices for livestock on most of the tanks which is great. I also grabbed more Dr. Timms One & Only. The place is much cleaner and brighter and there is more space to walk around. The owner is doing a great job with the changes.

The blue water is very high levels of copper I have been there to and the only fish that lived was out of there reef tank the rest died with in 2 weeks due to all that copper.the back room with the freshwater is for all the sick saltwater fish at lest thats how it was a year ago. Would be better if they did not use all the copper. good luck

They are still using the medicated water but the upkeep of the livestock and the overall layout of the store has been cleaned up! I am stopping by today hopefully!

Do you know its for sure copper? I thought that was from methylene blue. Its just like any other LFS some fish live, some fish die. I havent found one yet where 100% of their fish live. I dont get at all why people are down on anyone for trying to treat their fish. If you moved 5% of the fish they do you would see you need to treat also. `
