mlreef 450 gallon mixed reef build

Can't wait to see your aquascape Mike,it is going to look great.

Thanks Mark!

Some NICE rock for sure.I'd love to help you aquascape!!

I will definitely need your help Gus! Lets plan something for the 21st of April.

Wow, I'm jealous! i just added some tonga in my tank yesterday and love it. i only wish I had done my whole tank, or most of it, in tonga :)

At first I was going to go full pukani rock about 600 lbs, but then I totally changed my mind and went with the less is more philosophy and decided to go with the tonga branch. I wanted something unique yet totally functional.

Me too!!! I saw Mark's tank last night and now I want to redo my entire aquascaping. UGH!!!

I guess that I really need to see Mark's tank. Are there any pictures of his tank here on the forum?

If he is referring to Mark as in markitekt, then yes, the tank of the month. However, the totm pics lose all of the "depth" and don't his rockscape justice.

Seeing his tank has messed me up. I'm trying to see about taking out all of my rock and replacing it with tonga. It's such a slick setup and his SPS have such amazing growth. And there's the perfect amount of shade unedrneath for lower light corals.

I just got home and guess what I found waiting for me at the front door?

Yes, that's right! A brand new 6 stage deluxe RODI from BRS!

But wait, that's not all!

I also got my dual MAG 18's!

Hopefully tomorrow I will get my pump 6,000 gallon an hour closed loop pump...

My closed loop pump finally came in the mail. This is the Reeflo Hammerhead Hybrid Pump. It can be converted into a Hammerhead or a Barracuda pump.

Here are some pics that I took today.

This might be crazy!!! I never seen a closed loop system or know how it works :( Hope you post some videos and can explain the benefit of one..

The pump looks like a beast!!!

WOW!! This is turning into a sick build Mike. Looking forword to see it filled already:)

Getting filled will take about 10 days. My BRS 6 Stage Deluxe will only make 75 gallons a day at super peak performance. I will most likely get about 60 or so and the tank is 450 gallons and the sump is another 160 gallons at operation fill. I'm hoping that to start filling the tank sometime in May, hopefully before the baby comes.

That pump looks super powerful.

I hope it's super powerful! It needs to create some decent flow in my tank.

I will post some video of the the closed loop system and how it work in the next month or so. The pump is definitely a beast!

Mike, hurry up already we can't wait anymore!!. I am joking of course, but this is going to be awesome build. :the20man:

My friend Brett stopped by today and gave me a hand aquascaping the tonga branch. I shot some pictures of the configurations that we came up with. Please let me know what you think. None of these are permanent and are open to critique.

The rock configurations will hopefully be drilled and cemented on the 28th when Gus comes by to help me put this all together.

Here are the pics.

Feedback is appreciated, Thanks!
