SkullV's Aquarium Adventures

This is the last build that will involve the need for high powered lights

what exactly do you mean by this ?

This [refers to the specific tank in question as opposed to a possible "other" or "another" tank either in the present or in the future]

is the last [refers to there ain't gonna be another one after this one.... ie: the last one...cough cough cough......B.S. ......cough cough cough]

build [a slang reefers reference commonly used to describe the act of "putting a system together"...or a Lego set]

that will involve [the act of inclusion or to do something that includes a noted or specific item or act... ie: any exercise "that will involve" getting off my arse and interrupt my viewing of the highly acclaimed ESPN SportsCenter will NOT include "me"....]

the need for [refers to the act of meeting a specific requirement or specification, ie: I am in "the need for" my income to quadruple overnight so that I may continued to throw my money away on self gratifying items that make me forget about all the responsibilities in my life that keep me from spending all my money on my reef tanks]

high powered lights [the opposite of low powered lights, or lights that use less power than the high powered lights required to grow cannabis :D ]

but of course Tin....I could be COMPLETELY wrong here........ :p

post of the year!

+1,000

Carry on

Been waiting forever to find a tiny tiny foxface to try and deal with the weird turf algae growing on the stupid ceram-eco rock. Whatever kind of algae it is has rooted itself into the rock so hard that I couldn't even scrub it off with a toothbrush. The sea hare seems to do OK keeping it short but cant get it at the base like the Foxface and Emerald Crabs can.

Anyway, Liveaquaria finally got some "small" one spots in so I placed the order and requested the smallest one available. What came was a very active 1.5" juvie one spot who is already picking at the rocks after one day in the tank. He did seem to have some kind of injury during or prior to shipping but it has almost completly healed at this point. These photos are from 10 min after being placed in the tank so the injury is still pretty visible. Look how tiny this dude is!

Depending on what I find at PetCo this weekend he may have a slightly larger home to move into for a while as well. That is until he goes to his forever home with ADOGG80.

Looks like the Purple/Brown plate with orange rim/mouth from New Fish is actually starting to turn more of a platinum green with orange rim mouth. It's starting to outgrow its spot in the nem tank so it might need to get traded out for another smaller plate:

I gotta come see your setup Ted. I'm confused as to what you have going on with your multiple tanks. I'm around all weekend if you ever feel like inviting me over, ha!

Girlfriend is in town until next Wednesday but if were not in the boat all weekend in sure we can make some time. I'll text you later in the week for sure.

Started on the 20g to replace the SpecV. Got an overflow box from Premium Aquatics instead of Glass-Holes so I can run a herbie style drain. Going to run the full siphon through 1/2" plumbing and the trickle through 3/4". All I need to do still is paint the overflow side panel and drill one more hole for the 3/4" bulkhead. Can't do that until my new 35mm hole saw comes in though, I can't find mine anywhere! Once that's done I just need to wait for my black PVC and fittings to arrive and we'll be good to go.

Will also be looking to trade my current LED setup for an ATI/Tek 4x24 T5 fixture if anyone is interested.

Looking good Ted!

I love the fact you spend all that time drilling and mounting the overflow and still have the balls to set it on the railing of a second floor balcony.

I tested stability like 10000000000x before I left it there, would have taken a tornado to get that knocked off.

What kind of paint did you use for the back. I'd like to do mine

That was gloss black Krylon Fusion. It went on easily and evenly, but I dont think it'll ever come off if I ever wanted to change it. Generally when I paint tanks I use Baer Paint/Primer in satin black. I lay it on really thick and it works great. That way if I ever want to change it up, I can just scrape it off with a razor blade.
