Spartanman22's 80 DB

Salt went in last night! Putting the rock in today and will hopefully have the sumo filled up by tonight. Once all that is done and the dust has settled I'll move the QT fish over to the display

One of the best parts about the new place is that it's 3.5 miles from the office. Went home during lunch and put the rock in that had been curing in my office for the last 3 months. Sump is currently filling now. Found a small drip wise leak on the drain bulkhead. Gave the nut another 1/4 turn and no more drip.

I'll take a sample into work tomorrow to analyze for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate but since the rock is fully settled I should be good to go. Pending results fish will be in tomorrow afternoon which means an empty QT to be filled!

One of my favorite fish is the yellow Scopas tang. I have only ever seen 1 in person but it was incredible! I saw one available on NYaquatics but am skeptical ordering from them given the mixed reviews...

I just got a fish from NYA a couple weeks ago. Came in exactly as described and started grazing right out of the bag. Ate pellets within 24hrs. I called to ask a question before purchase and they answered on the first ring and was very nice and informative.

That's good to hear as I really want this fish and they're not usually available. I've read both really good and really bad reviews. There doesn't seem to be much of a middle ground. I emailed them to ask some questions so I'll wait to see how they respond. But even in the bad experiences it sounds like people are at least getting their money back.

I've ordered from LA before and had terrible luck. Sometimes it just happens. As long as your refunded per their policy there shouldn't be any issues.

From what I can tell, the only real issue with NYA is the shipping price. It's frankly horrible.

Picked up a very tiny yellow eye kole tang, got the apex display to power up, and got the rock structure finalized. Skimmer is breaking in currently. Photos to come tomorrow. I unfortunately made a sand storm getting the rock structure together.

Well only took about 3 hours but the apex is up and running! The three fish I had QT'd have been transferred over to the display.

I sill have to get the vortechs setup through the wxm. For now they're just programmed on an outlet. I also have to get the ATO setup, but I feel like I'm finally at a good point where things are running.

Well it's been a while since using halides and I forgot how hot they get. I had a heater plugged in but not programmed yet. So that plus the heat of the halides saw the temperature skyrocket. I've since unplugged the heater and its come back down into the 80's overnight. Somehow my fish are still fine as of this morning. I'm hoping once I get the heater actually programmed I won't have a heat issue. If I can't keep heat down I'll have to go back to LEDs. I ran a 75 on 2 x 250 watters and never needed a chiller. So I'm hoping I can do the same again.

For now that's all that's going in there! I'm going to make a small mound of rock in the open sand bed area to the right for my blue gig to go. I wanted a very open and minimalistic look the the setup.

i always start with the same idea of minimalistic look but then accumilate corals i keep adding more rock :)

For those of you with Apexs can I get some programming help. I'm trying to setup my skimmer neck cleaner to be on for a minute, the off for 239 minutes. I've tried the following programming and it won't work.

Fallback OFF
OSC 000:00/001:00/239:00 Then ON

When I turn the outlet from OFF to Auto nothing happens.

Spent all night messing with the Apex, but finally got the skimmer neck cleaner running and the Vortechs controlled through the WXM. Only real apex stuff left is program the heater and float switch. Unfortunately both of those are still on the old setup. So I'll have to wait on that.

Going to pickup the remaining livestock tomorrow afternoon. So, tomorrow I should have some updated photos!

Brought all the remaining coral and fish home tonight. Unfortunately somehow my Potters Angel didn't make it. He was fine when he was placed in the bucket, but by the time I got home 25 minutes later he appeared dead. I've got him in the tank with the clowns and leopard just in case. I'll wait until morning to call it.

Here's a shot of the not so happy couple. They did not like being separated from their anemone.
