Without canopy....unless you could do some sort of floating canopy.

I agree if you're going to do a canopy on a rimless would look good as a floating canopy. But if I recall he will be doing fish that are considered jumpers, so it makes sense that he's running the canopy that way

Looking good!
Another vote for floating...

Another possible benefit of floating is if/when you have a desired lighting change you'd probably be able maintain the same sweet look

Thanks guys, decided to go without canopy. Added sand, excuse the cloudy water :)

Refugium plumbed in ! 40 gal. breeder will be filled with siporax and matrix media and macro algae for additional nutrient export. Also will help with live food, as pods and other critters will be able to multiply without being eaten. Return from refugium goes back to return section of sump, so pods will get pumped to DT.

Cant wait to see where this goes. Love how everthing is in the closet and the rockwork. Good call on no canopy. Only a floating canopy would look nice but then it takes away from the fish in the background

Yes, the one on right is the same, left side is another tall rock. So new aquascape is made of 2 rocks :)

nice love the rock work :)

but i personally like the single rock setup as the picture i posted :D thats a beautiful find really haha what are the dimensions of that rock ? curious :)

Tank is 21 in tall, so rock is about 2 ft tall, and maybe foot and a half wide at bottom. I found it at Best Fish in Milwaukee, he has many, many rocks like that in his store.

your setup makes me itch to go there and change my scape haha ..

I had to re plumb my refugium as I was having drain issues. I built a durso and it works great now, very quiet too. My friend made mistake drilling my tank and I had to use 3/4 bulkhead for drain instead 1 in., same as return. Have to test it longer, but should be fine as I only do about 100 GPH through the refugium. If anything I might have to drill second hole for emergency.

Looks awesome. I'm sure you said above, but will this be NPS? Seems the NPS will like the verticals overhangs. Do you plan on leaving the sandbed open?

Yes, NPS, mostly suns, dendros NPS gorgonians, few chili corals. This kind of tall rockwork works best for that kind of biotope IMO. Sandbed will be open, I hate clutter :)

Awesome. Can't wait to see it fill in. I too, hate a junk'd up sandbed. I pick every tiny piece of dead coral, live rock fragments, snail she'll, etc out of my sand weekly. Love the look of a clean sandbed.
