n...sometimes we tend to keep our waters too clean...causing issues just as bad as too much nutrients. I now believe that underskimming or even turning the skimmer off once in a while might help.

Im probably going to test this soon....
Ill turn my skimmer off one weekend of the month.

I just hope it's not under powered for my 180 upgrade. Heavy bioload is rated for 150. Just wish the wife get what I wanted instead of just picking out a random skimmer. Women frustrate me

My advice is return it and get what you want.

I've already put it together. Have to wait for the family to leave tonight then I can play with it. Just need to find out if this thing is noisy. That's my biggest complaint about mine now. If this one's loud back to AP it goes and I'll be ordering the skimz. Kinda hope it's loud so she can't argue with me about it

That's the great thing about the RO I had... It was really quite

I've already broke the news to her. She wasn't very happy about it but she knew it was the wrong skimmer in the first place

Because I've never dealt with rtn. I've had stn but only on 1 piece ever and it's been going for 9 months. And it was gradual this was like patches so that's the first thing that came to mind and they were the newest frags I've added

you should probably add "knock on wood" :D

Hmm I have quite a few RR pieces but have them in what I think is lower par (for SPS) and moderate flow. They seem to be doing pretty well.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Worst case, once I get mine grown out, I can frag any of the ones you lose. Just might take a while.

You are running LEDs right? I think AP had them under T5's so it might just be the corals in shock from the light change (whether it is intensity or spectrum I have no clue).

They are all basically on the glass and they are under halides in pretty low par and medium flow

That coral on the last page looks like a case of RTN more than AEFWs. I had those little bastards in my last tank. You will find the bite marks from them and a blast from a Turkey Baster will send them flying. RTN sucks, but every SPS keeper has had it happen to at least one piece.

Well the new skimmer is in
