Blake (and tell Reed) if things ended badly and you would like some sort of reference letter, just let us know. Some of us probably look pretty good on paper.

This is a very very sad day. Mcf was such a great spot to go and hang out, and spend money: it was a destination. The staff was always so cool and laid back, always there to answer any questions. Never felt rushed or pushed and in the end always wanted to spend money to support them. My kids would run in and know where the toys were. Always candy, great sales, great deals. I'm going to miss MCF big time but mostly feel for the employees who apparently were blindsided. If true, that just ain't right. The store and livestock was great, but it was those employees that kept me coming back. Was just there Sunday and picked my last coral.

In the area, I think old orchard is the best spot. Fish planet selection is not great and expensive. Hate to say it. Think I'll go back and give them another shot but steve needs to up his game.

MCF. RIP.

Greg, I won't be there and Reed hasn't decided yet.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I'm glad to see you feel the same way and understand why this is so messed up.

When I was starting out Steve sold me a Blue Tang for a 29 Biocube. Not a tiny one either. At another point he screwed up his corals in that nicest tank by the register. When I first walked in he lied about what happened, but when I kept asking he confessed. Maybe others have had better experiences with him.

heard from an insider..mcf is a family owned business and one of the family members has a significant health issue just discovered a week ago..one of the major players behind the scenes of the company...it was a gut wrenching decision but had to be made quickly..at least they still were able to keep the wholesale operation open and they will make every attempt to supply all the lfs' with their high quality and low priced material..it was truly a health and security issue for the family..we should not judge..its more painful for them than it is for us.i know those people and they are crushed but they had no time to make it any easier by alerting all of us. It's sad to lose a company that was so dedicated to us as hobbyists, I can only imagine what it must be like for these good people.

Trust me Nathan, Reed and I are in the same boat as you. We were blindsided and found out we will both be out of a job the same time all of you did.

If any of you guys have any questions feel free to shoot me a PM. I'll miss seeing all of your familiar faces!

Darn Blake, sorry about that. That is so shady! Let us know where yours and Reeds next venture are going to be. I didn't think Sarah (owners) were that kind of people. Good luck with college too.

This story possibly makes more sense than most things heard so far.

if staying open through the weekend would have killed someone I can understand. generally you're employees would understand something like this, I highly doubt its accuracy. Nice first post by the way.

Guys, hate to be the Nazi here, but please google the difference between your and you're. It always detracts from your point when you're making such a simple mistake.
