mlreef 450 gallon mixed reef build

they all do... there is NO WAY they ever will admit it, cause the money was "wasted", but they do. nawww I'm not speaking from experience at allllll

Hahhaa I am the enthusiast of the family and my husband puts up with my love for our aquariums. Roles are switched a little but I get where you guys are coming from because I think my husband thinks that a lot of our tank stuff is a waste of money too... but deep down I know he loves it! :)

I'm always happy to hear that the spouses deep down inside also love it! Even when it's way deep down inside.

I wanted to add a couple pictures of clowns that I picked up yesterday that are going to be going into the 450. They are temporarily in my 40 gallon frag tank. But they are the cutest little things in the world. A couple have already started hosting the toadstool.

There are 14 of them total, I just hope that they don't get lost in a 450.

Very nice...how many did you end up getting, I think I counted 14.

Yeah, I ended up with 14 of them, I wanted to have enough of them so they didn't get lost in the 450. With the clowns being a much smaller fish in comparison to my tangs I figured more is better and they are to darn cute. And in the end all that matters is that my wife thinks they are awesome!

I used to not like it - until I got my Nano Cube. Now I really like that I can have the things that I like to look at inside of it. I think that was part of the problem.. he was picking things that he liked, because it was his tank. Lol.

I have everything I want now, minus my sexy shrimp.

Any concerns with the clowns when the pair off with fighting between the pairs? I know the tank is big Mike, just wondering, that's all.

I actually never gave it much thought. I'm definitely going to have to do some research on this. My original order was for 12 of them and I received 14. My thoughts were to keep 8-10 because my buddy Brett wanted a pair. From what I have read they are supposed to be one of the least aggressive clowns. I'm hoping that if I introduce them all at the same time that hopefully they will all get along, maybe....

Thanks for the question though, it's definitely got me thinking.

With a tank that size, and introducing them all together, hopefully they do what clowns do in nature...and that's have the larger one become the female and the next sized clown will become her mate, and the rest of them will just be part of the group. If the female dies, then the top male will become the female and the next male will become her mate.

yeah it should be totally fine, when you have that many its like a colony out in the wild. One dominant female and a bunch of males. If you get a bunch of nems in one area you could have a very cool natural look to the tank. like this!

I'm really hoping that it will work out that way. I guess you can say hope for the best but prepare for the worst... I'm willing to give it a shot, hopefully it pays off. Thanks guys!
