Spartanman22's 80 DB

Sorry to hear you've hit a few bumps moving your system :( I'm sure you'll get it turned around soon though

Would love to hear your overall thoughts on the hydroponics fixture once you have a chance to evaluate it. Those things are crazy cheap, I've been considering getting one for my tank too.

For what I want to do with it it'll be great. The fixture housing isn't too bad looking. There's no cooling and the ballasts are nothing special, but some of fans could be added for cheap. They do have individually bent reflectors which is nice. Mine came with some dents on the reflector but It doesn't really matter because I'm cutting out where those dents were.

Haha well I've actually scrapped the T5/LED hybrid and am going with 3 OR-T247s for now. It's easier, more economical, and no bulb replacement costs. I also don't know how well the fixture would turn out looking, and looks are a big factor in this setup.

But what have you been up to lately haven't seen you around much recently

Ive been around, but only browsing. Tanks look horrible so no need to post pics of ugly coral. Working on getting my rodi all setup. Something should be coming soon

So I'm no longer convinced that my tang has ich. There haven't been any spots on him in the past day and a half, and no other fish showed any signs of ich. Now I know that it could be just that they signs have not presented itself, but the Scopas has little black spots on him and he has blotches all over him. The blotches look like his color in that spot just got super pale. His overall appearance seems to be more pale as well. And to top it off he is noticeably stressed, but he is still eating well. The splotchiness could be due to stress.

Based on some research and picture comparisons I think I'm dealing with black ich.

I get my second and third OR fixture today and tomorrow. So I've got to take a trip to Menards and figure out a way to bracket them all together nicely.

Aside from a flame wrasse pair I made my final fish purchases today thanks to AP. 4 small female Lyretails and a Pink Margin Fairy Wrasse. They are all currently in QT.

Also finally got my hands on a SSC. I don't know why it took me so long, but better late than never!

Might want to sync those clocks up! . Your going to like these.

Ha that's the first thing I did! I do prefer the look of the Elos better, but I know how great these lights are. My spare bedrooms already noticeably cooler.

I dosed PraziPro per the bottles directions (1 teaspoon per 20 gallons) since my Potters and Scopas seem to have something bothering them. I can't tell if it's ich or not. The tang has had a couple white spots on his tail but not anywhere else. I haven't seen any symptoms on any other fish. Regardless I'm going to go pickup a large bin and start cycling it as a holding tank. I'll unfortunately probably run all fish through TTM again and then treat with prazi. Let the display sit fallow for 2-3 months.

Man is it going to suck catching those fish. Especially the wrasses.

All fish minus the wrasse were caught tonight and given a 10 minute freshwater bath. My two dwarf Angels are struggling badly and unfortunately I'm not too confident to find either of them alive when I wake up tomorrow.

Tomorrow I will start treating for velvet with Seachem cupramine. I've never used this product before so hopefully it's not too challenging. I think when this is all said and done I'm going to end up re-homing the swallowtail and Scopas. The Scopas seemed cramped in there and the swallowtail was a bully. My desire for this tank was to be wrasses and centropyges and I got away from that a bit. Hopefully my Multibar makes it. He ate like a champ and didn't nip anything. But if not I think I'll have to keep my eyes out for a trio...

Good luck. Sorry to read this. Cupramine has worked well for me in the past when I brought ich in on my pbt. Treated all fish in in a 55 and have been ich free for 6 years or so. QT everything rigorously ever since.

The key is to do lots of water changes in your QT to keep ammonia down, but also keeping the Cupramine level appropriate. Too low and its ineffective. Two high and the fish die. Get a good copper test kit and use it often.

damn sucks to have fish problems man ..

i hope you will have better luck with fish next time .. all your hardwork and that beauty of a tank deserves good fish

Thanks for the info man. I ordered Seachem cupramine, Seachem copper test, and New Life Ich Powder (chloroquine phosphate). I've got one of those Seachem ammonia alert badges and will keep a close eye on it. All extra food I'll siphon out.

Unfortunately the two dwarfs did not make it. I'm extremely disappointed about loosing the Multibar. After this is all said and done the swallowtail and Scopas will be rehomed. Id rather stick with about 3 centropyges, maybe a regal, majestic, or Goldflake, and the swallowtail wouldn't ever let me add another angel.

Thanks man. I have no one to blame but myself. I elected not to QT my Multibar because I wanted to get him eating and felt that'd be easier to accomplish in a reef setting. Live and learn. Id love to get a trio of multibars, I'm pretty excited that PIA is back in business they've got some great looking fish.

On a side note, I can't seem to dial in my Vertex Omega 150 it will finally seem to have a good foam head and skimming well and then it'll randomly overflow like crazy.

overflow happens after a waterchange or puttying some thing in or afterfeeding .. i think its a problem with all skimmers ..

i used to have a lot of problem with my sca skimmer .. now i set my reefkeeper to turn it on 2 hours later than my flow after feeding .. it seemed to help .. no more overflows for me ..
