Just picked up my new 80 gallon Deep Blue, some nice new rock, and some ATI bulbs.

I have a couple questions for you all regarding the build; one is flow related and one is light related.

I am doing a floating canopy and since the lights will be hidden I decided to add some T5 to my LEDs. I'll be running 2 × OR-T247's and don't know if I should do 1 or 2 sets of 48" 54 Miro LET T5 retrofit Kits. I currently have 1 set (2 bulbs). Would 4 T5's and 2 OR's be overkill? This will be an SPS system.

Now for flow, I currently have 3 MP10wES's and was going to add one more and have all 4 on the back glass. I figured this would provide ample flow, but would I be better off with 2 MP40's on each end?

Ha they looking for dinner

What is it with cat people and fish tanks?

My 210 is leaving the house, so I have it half full of water. Well my cat decided now would be a good time to jump into it. I was upstairs and heard some terrible commotion. Come down, bunch of water on the floor, wet cat running around. Good times.

So normally I run alk at 7.0-7.1 very consistently. My sps were doing very well back when I had very little if any nutrients in my system. Now that I'm operating with higher nitrates would I be better off increasing alk slowly to 8.0-8.3? I thought I remembered reading somewhere that a stable alk at low 7's is great in a ULNS system but not so great in higher nutrient systems

Ok so I think the SCA 302 needs to go. It's producing hardly anything anymore. It really kills me to buy a new skimmer since I am upgrading in 7 months and already have an Omega 150 ready to go. I don't want to use that for this tank. So, I'm now in the market for a small skimmer. Only criteria is that the SCA 302 lid needs to fit on the new skimmer. I made the poor decision of perminantly installing my swabbie onto the 302 lid. I could get it off it'd just be a PITA.

My current options I'm considering are the Bubble Magus Curve 5, BM G5, RO Classic 110, RO Classic 152-S, Simplicity 120, and Skimz SN 143.

I really am liking the RO Classic 152-S, Simplicity 120, and BM Curve 5

Spent some more time working on the upgrade this weekend

Stand is all ready for paint now, then the skin panels can be added. This is what I'm going for for the final look:

I also spent some time playing with the equipment and reefscape

I've been trying to decide on which doser to get. I've narrowed out the Vertex Libra and Apex DOS and am currently planning on the GHL 2. It has stepper motors and 3 heads whereas the DOS only gets you 2.

I'm currently stuck on return pump. I was originally planning on a Waveline DC10000 but have started considering the Vectra M1 DC. Is the extra $100 worth it? From what I've read, the Ecotech is dead silent which is a plus. I'm just not sure if I'd really utilize all the features it offers. So I'm not sure if the extra expense is justifiable. But I do want the best within reason so if it truly is the better option I have no problem forking over an extra $100

Just put in the order for the Vectra M1!pretty excited to get that in! I'm hoping to spend some time working on the plumbing this weekend.

My current tank seems to be improving. I've upped my vinegar dosing from 2×20 mL/day to 2 × 25 mL/day. I've noticed some improvements in SPS health, skimmer production, and chaeto growth. My nitrates have come down a bit from ~75 to 50 ppm.

Me too on the nitrates. The GHL 2 is a great doser. It is easy to program and extremely precise down to 0.1 ml dosing increments.

It looks like all my skimmer needed was a nice cleaning. It's performing much better since I gave it a vinegar bath last week.

It's about time EcoTech offered a Driver mount! I don't have any of the QD pumps, do the driver mounts come with the newer QD pumps?

I've been dosing 50 mL of vinegar daily and have noticed a steady decrease in nitrates over the past couple of weeks. Although some of my SPS are still quite unhappy with. I tested the parameters today and got the following:

Alk: 8.6
Ca: 460
Mg: 1425
pH: 8.33
Temp: 77.9
Salinity: 1.026
NO3: 50

Nitrates are down from 75 ppm last week, and I slowed down the timer on the alk and Ca pumps. My goal is to keep alk right around 8.1-8.3 until nitrates drop down further and things start to take off again. Despite my nitrate issues, my blue gomezi is really starting to take off.

I've recently added some new SPS frags and it appears that all the newer pieces are doing pretty good. It's just my setosa and purple stag that are struggling.

I've also noticed reduced PE and I'm not quite sure what's causing that. Tank inhabitants are: black leopard, yellow coris, Picasso pair, flame hawk, 2 × threadfin cardinals, and a golden dwarf moray eel. I have not witnessed any of those fish picking at polyps.
