Went to AP at lunch to grab some salt and found a beautiful Genicanthus semifasciatus. I planned on having a pair in my 80 so I'm half way there! I picked up a beautiful female. They had a male too, but I didn't think I could house both of them until the setup in March.

More pictures to come once acclimated.

Beautiful they are reefsafe right ??

Which one of the two is more beautiful ? Male or female ? How do you tell the male female apart ?

Tin, those are the masked swallowtails. A little nicer and more expensive. This is what mine looks like. AP had a masked female but it was unfortunately already sold.

The iphone seems to have over saturation issues and I can't figure out how to adjust it pre shoot. I can only find filter options.

They are supposedly one of the most reef safe species. If I remember correctly the Genicanthus is a plankton feeder in the wild.

This is the first filefish I've had last longer than 48 hours. He seems pretty healthy but so far has shown no interest in apstasia. The Swallowtail is doing well and eating like a champ.

I've got all my Acros in my frag tank undergoing weekly Bayer dips. I only found eggs on one piece, and have only lost one piece. I'll keep dipping once a week for another 5-6 likely.

And lastly since my current setup is quite depressing at the moment here's some teasers on the new setup. Once I'm a bit closer to setup time I'll start a separate build thread.

That is the Deep Blue 80 gallon rimless. 48x24x16". Ideally idk have an 18" but then I'd have to go custom and I'm not shelling out for a custom until it's a 10' monster!!

Thank you now I just need to get out of my current apartment and into the next one! I've spent over a year planning this thing out so hopefully I've thought of everything! All that's left really is plumbing and wire management

And you built the stand ? You have skills Adam, nice work, are those fans in the back or just vents

Tom

I did build the stand. Unfortunately there are a few areas I wish would have turned out better, but I didn't have the best working spaces which can make things difficult at times.

There are two larger vents on the bottom half of the stand hidden by the sump. The two red vents are fans to pull moisture out of the sump.
