Your frag tank is looking more like a DT

Haha it's more like my zoa collection tank! I actually did make some frags yesterday though.

Unfortunately I'll be clearing out all my Zoas in the next month or so. I've decided on strictly SPS in the new tank. So, I'll have to clear out my stock. It's been so hard going into AP and not picking up more Zoas!

I finally got around to uploading some DSLR shots. I'm still very much trying to learn, but I think these came out fairly decent. Since I took so long to get these uploaded they are older. These represent what my reef looked like before my honeymoon and mini-crash, back when the tank was in its prime. It never really seemed to bounce back since then with recurring little problems.

Great Photos ! Are these under the Oceanrevive light ?
How do you like the Oceanrevive light ? I am debating if I should switch to it from my current MH setup (my tank size is same as yours)

I can't remember if these were under the ocean revive or the reefbrite hybrid. But, regardless I do like the OR fixtures a lot. They are a great fixture for the cost. I'm still running it now on my cube, but will be going back to halides on my larger tank.

What? Back to halides? Thought you were doing full t5 for the 80. I love my halides. Glad to see they are making a come back

Ya I was originally going to do a combo of the OR T-247's and 4 x 54 watt T5's in a floating canopy that would be anchored to the wall. But I didn't want to commit to anchoring anything into our apartments wall. So I decided on a fixture since my tank is rimless. I was going to go the ATI route but found a good deal on a really nice Elos Planet II fixture. I'm a MH guy at heart so I'm anxious to get back to em.

Ya its pretty awesome. I had wanted a Giesemann Infiniti, but wasn't willing to shell out $2K. So, I settled on an ATI with some reefbrites. Luckily, someone on this forum was selling the Elos Plante right before I was about to order the ATI. I was a bit hesitant at first because the fixture is like 39" long on a 48" tank, but the halides are at the very ends of the fixture so it should work out really well.

I never have liked those tiny reflectors in those hrbrid setups. Love the way they look just dont think it puts out the par. Maybe with higher end fixtures that may be different

I've seen par values of about 300 on the sand bed with the fixture 12" off the sand bed. Should be more than enough! I've only ever run halides in fixtures and have always had great success growing anything and everything even at the sand bed.

we talking about Giesemann fixtures ?

I was just comparing that one i got from you last year. The par values from that compared to the 15x15 reflector i use now were very different. Thats why i ended up going back to the lumen max. Thats why i said maybe its different between higher end versions of it. Atleast i would assume so

Ya the par values were from the Giesemann Infiniti. It's hard to find much on the Elos Planet II I don't think they had much of a presence in the states. But they are of very similar quality so I'm making a bit of an assumption here.

always wanted a dwarf golden moray! how are they in terms of personality? are they big enough to eat a helfreichi?

They are very personable. He was by far the coolest fish I've ever owned. I will likely do another or even a pair in the next tank. They max out around 12-14 inches. The one in the pictures above was close to adult size. They don't have very big mouths. He was with multiple small fish (1-2") as well as shrimp and never went after them.

Oh ya I forgot that one. That was an Odyssey fixture that had the ballasts and bulbs replaced. So the reflectors were stock and probably no where near the quality of a Giesemann or Elos. But ironically that's what I used on my old 75 and I grew SPS and clams on the sand bed just fine.

Awesome. One big reason I've been holding off as well is because I hear they are escape artists and will likely find a small crack to jump out of. Do you find that to be an issue? Does he go up to the top a lot or just hang out by his burrow?

Oh yeah it would definitely grow anything no doubt i just meant the par difference was noticable
