mlreef 450 gallon mixed reef build

Hey mike, i was bored as hell at work today. CHECK IT OUT.
Look at your tank compared to mine lol. Makes me think to go a little bigger.
Oh and that house look familiar?

Brett it looks awesome!!! And yes the house looks familiar. Thanks for the renderings, I will need to show Lisa.

Here are some more pictures of the work in progress. Those shinny metal looking things are N50 magnets with 27 lbs of pull each.

Share the wealth on those white plastic meadi thingy miggigys.

Gus,

I will do a quick study of the effects the Kaldnes has on the reef. From my calculations the 50 liters of kaldnes has the same effect as approximately 600 lbs of Live Rock. According to Kaldnes and the fish farm studies that they have done 50 Liters can support 21 lbs of fish. I'm more than willing to share the wealth of my results of kaldnes with everyone.

What type of reactor are you planing on putting that k1 media in? Just curious

Martin, I will be running the media in section of my sump that is 24" x 18"x 18" tall. I will experiment on which method is the best way to achieve a fluidized bed effect. I'm thinking that it will end up be 3 very high efficiency air-stones with a tiny power head as well.

I'll post some pictures when I get to that point :)

Would appreciate the pics when u get them. If I ever start my dream build( 700 gal + L shape plywood build. Not gonna happen for at least 4 yrs though) I might go the k1 media route depending on your success.

I will be more than happy to share the results of the k1 media. I will hopefully get the aquarium established by late October and start doing some testing by mid to late January. I guess if you can wait 6 months then everything should be good.

I just wanted to thank Anthony from Nano Sea today for stopping by and giving the tank the final wet sanding and buffing. The acrylic has never looked so great! Thanks a million Anthony! I'll have to post some pictures later on.

I wanted to take a couple pictures to show the progress that has been made over the last week or so. Also wanted to send a special thanks to Gus for his help with the setup of my new BRS 6 stage RODI unit. The RODI unit is producing about 35 gallons a day @ an average of 45 - 55 PSI. My TDS count was 58 coming in and 0 exiting, so it's working well:)

Looks great Mike. I added a booster pump to my 5 stage and now I make around 75g per day. You should look into it.

I was thinking about doing just that. How much is a booster pump? And is it a PITA to install? Also will it need a power source?

I am so happy for you Jorge! I'm actually picking up my stand and canopy this weekend with a U-haul this weekend as well. I finally got Danny to start staining today! Hopefully the clear coat will be done on Saturday morning and I can have it home midday Sunday. I'll post some more pictures then.

I'm looking forward to the next stage.... Plumbing :)

Started filling the second vat last night. Does anyone have an extra or spare mag5 -9 pump laying around anywhere?
