My "Tanked" Tank

Sorry, not sure why pics aren't turning.

These are the misbar domino clowns I got from Chris. They were getting attacked by that demon domino Damsel that won't die that is in the 120 so I had to move them before I wanted to. They are beauts!

Wow. That is an amazing tank. I love the shape and the dimensions. It is awesome. Good job on it too. It looks great.

OK. On all your problems. I am no expert, but I am pretty handy with a wrench and that sort of thing. If you need any help, let me know. I am sure we can work something out. I just plumbed my own tank, it is only a 15 gallon with 10gal sump and 2.5 gal fuge , but I do have quite a few years of construction experience and a pretty good grasp of mechanics. If I don't know how to do it, I figure it out. I would be glad to lend a hand to help get this thing all buttoned up if you are still having issues. PM me if you need to.

Like I said before, it is a great looking tank, keep it up. And those clowns are awesome.:)

It sounds stupid and wasteful but if you came over to help me with anything other than moving the tank (where did all the CR guys go when this happened? they volunteered but then didn't show) then I would not have learned how to set up a mega tank.

However, should I ever want to build one in a wall or something, or need the handyman work done, I will definitely call on you. The handyman I hired was an idiot.

I now know how to set up plumbing, pumps, valves, etc. Done the hard, messy and expensive way but all education costs something.

I would have totally helped move it, but was not part of this site at the time. Sorry.

Sometimes failure is the best teacher. Oops, that didn't work, how about this. Nothing wrong with that at all. I have done it many times, and so has every other hobbyist. It's all good.

As for handyman work, I have no problem doing that. Just let me know.

Lunacris also has platinum clowns with hosting nems that I really want. He has concerns about two families of clowns in one tank. My argument is that they would each be at opposite ends of this large tank. Now he will sell me the plats with reservations but how about your thoughts on this?

I think that it would be large enough to keep them apart. I am not sure though. How often do clowns venture into open water?

Your tank will be large enough for another pair of clowns with no problem...once the pair you have now settles in on one side, you could introduce the second pair on the other side. They aren't big swimmers and pretty much stay in their territory.

That's what I thought. However, being the only tenants in this monster tank, they have eventually explored the entire tank but hang out at the end that I first introduced them to.

i think it would be best if they each had a host on either end of the tank. even with smaller 4' tanks it can work. with your tank id be much more confident about it. the platinums are tiny lil guys....

Cool, Chris will sell me the plats but perhaps now he will feel better about it. I like that he cares enough about the fish to NOT sell them to me if he feels they won't be happy.

Here is the latest. My phospates and nitrates were up a little. I won't do anymore water changes. I haven't checked the water this week yet. I'm on vacation but still don't have one freaking ounce of free time. I had put a zoa colony and a plate of something that I got for free into the tank and noticed they were not happy. I put them back in the old tank with the stanky water and lost the plate of something like zoas but I can't remember name. The zoa singles that were in the rocks either died off or went into hybernation but I noticed one came out today. I've had enough though and moved everything into new tank. I know I should not have but I'm losing my mind now and if I lose cheap corals then so be it. The fish are fine. Now about the fish....

I had a pair of ocellaris in the other tank and moved them into new tank with the dominoes. I cannot believe this happened but the female ocellaris joined the dominoes and the female domino kicked out the male black and white ocellaris. He is completely ostricized and the other 3 are their own group of friends.

The effing domino damsel that is such a bully--well I finally caught him and held him in net for 15 minutes trying to decide what to do with him. I hate that jerk so much but I couldn't flush him. I finally tossed him in. He still bullies the blue velvet damsel but is laid back now. He follows me around the tank like a puppy dog. So does the hawkfish.

I already have rust colored algae on the glass and top layer of sand. What is that? Overfeeding already?

Waiting to hook up with Jim of Coral Compulsion to get one more light and I think that's it for a while. I was going to buy a couple of corals but I guess I better hold out for now.

I won several bottles of Reef Fushion (2 bottle sets) from Seachem and I have been using that exclusively. Should I be adding anything else? I thought this is all I need.

Signed, getting very tired.

Cool update...sound like everything is moving along, because that rust colored algae is diatoms, which us natural and will eventually go away. Don't flush the meanie, if you get you tired of him, I'll come and get him. When you get a chance, let's see a pic of that monster of a tank. :)
